Basic Crossbar. Does The Job

After seeing prices for Thule crossbars, I started looking elsewhere for one. I'm not paying almost as much for a crossbar as I am for the kayak I'm buying. This product works fine. It's not as pretty as a Thule but I promise you no one's looking at your crossbar. I will admit it's not put together as well as a Thule though. The steel bars will slide out of the vinyl covering without the rubber end caps on it. But again, once it's on your car and is held in by tension, they're not going anywhere, even if the endcaps fall off. They installed easily enough in the parking lot with the included allen wrench. The best part is this rang up $35 at the register. Must've been a return or clearance item. Can't complain about that.

Missing Items

Missing the security key so I could not install it to my vehicle.

Roof Crossbar

Does anyone know if this will fit a 2012 Ford Focus ? Or have any subjections?

Whistling Rack!

Its a great product but I cant leave it attached to my car till I ned it. I found that it creates a whistling sound when its mounted.

Works Great

I love the product. It works well to hold my kayaks

Seem Like Solid Crossbars

Got the 58" Universal SteelBar set and matched it up with two Malone J-Pro Kayak Carriers. All attach very easily and solid. the J-Pro square plastic bottom does make indents in the black coating on the crossbars. My concern here is that it eventually breaks through to the metal and rust starts. Other issues are that the 58" is not 58 inches, it measures 57" from end cap to end cap. And there is some whistling sound when get over 40mph but that was to be expected.

Did Not Fit 2013 Outback

This was purchased for a 2013 outback. I could not extent the clamps far enough to fir the oval shaped cross bars. It was returned.

This Cross Rail System Is A Great Buy!

And overall, a great value! Used the Malone Universal Cross Rail System for the first time yesterday. So easy to put together. Traveled 160 miles round trip on mostly highways. This system held up extremely well while transporting two 10-foot kayaks. Plus, it's very quiet. Highly recommended!

Great Produnt And Fast Delivery Time!!

I purchased this roof rack and the hood straps from Dick's and it looks luke a very sturdy system. Still putting it together and hopefully will get my kayak on the water in a few days (when im not working). Great delivery time!!

Almost Perfect

The first time it was ordered the delivery company damaged the carton so it had to be reordered. While it may not seem like a big deal one of the cross bars is an inch short. I can still use it but every time I do I will grumble about this missing one inch.

Sturdy And Secure

Bought the 50" rails for my 2015 Rogue and using the included spacers, they are a perfect fit. Rails feel very tight and secure. Steal bars are strong and rubber coating doesn't scratch up my kayak (like the first set of cheaper rails I bought that had to be returned for that reason). Easy to install and remove with the turn of the supplied Allen wrench. Notice a slight "hum" from the wind Without the kayak - after 45 mph, however No Sound at all With the kayak strapped on the rails -getting just over 60mph. Theft resistant Locks completely detach from the bracket so keep them close by. If you are constantly removing and installing, I would suggest marking guide lines near the brackets so you don't waste time centering the rails over the car each time. Great quality and gets the job done.

Useable

Have found no problems. Rides well, little or no noise.

Very Noisy

Easy to install and structurally OK. However, the noise level is extremely high due to the small openings at the mount locations that create a whistling noise that even the radio does not drown out. Had to use closed cell foam and pack it in tight to reduce the noise. Product should have a foam/neoprene sealing block that can be trimmed to fit for all sized rails.

Very Sturdy

I found these cross rails to very sturdy and connects to the SUV rails very well. I was concerned because I am carrying a 2 person kayak connected to them. My only issue is the Allen wrench used to tighten it up the rails is very awkward to use. I will have to get one on a screw driver handle.
