Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Bare Roof Universal Roof Racks These are probably the best universal type roof racks you will be able to find. I shopped extensively for racks that would be able to stand up to transporting a heavy kayak over thousands of miles. Other brand name racks like Thule or Yakima would have cost 4 to 5 times the cost of these racks. These were the only ones that seemed to be able to perform just as well as the higher priced options. We used these on a 2016 Honda CRV (does not have a rain gutter or lip to catch other types of attachment systems) to transport the kayak from NY to Florida through a major southern blizzard with these racks on the car. The racks and kayak did not budge an inch. The ratchets seemed to work fine. I cinched them up as tightly as possible and then tied a half hitch as insurance. We kept the kayak on the rack with some budget ratchet tie downs from Harbor Freight. The fact that the tie downs for the rack do go through the interior of the car may put some people off but this also make the racks very secure. I also want to add that these did not mar the finish or cause any scratches or dents to the vehicle. I highly recommend these if you are having difficulty trying to find racks that work with your vehicle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great rack, fits 'no bars' car roof. excellent quality product. fits sedan cars with plain roof. good grip of stands on the roof. the only concern is that it may leave marks from grip on the roof. finally i went with sportsrack item that had better design for stands of the bars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for long distance kayak travel I bought this to take my 62lb Kayak from NC to Michigan to visit family. Easy to set up on my Escape's roof w/o rails. Used 2 racket ties and 2 bungee ties on front and back of kayak. No issues traveling over 1000 miles each way. Some noise once I got up to 70mph but that was it

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Inexpensive alternative I am a Thule rack lover but they are so expensive. I needed a quick inexpensive alternative for my 2017 Hyundau Santa Fe. Not sure what to expect I orders one online and had it delivered. Came Tge following day !I was not sure about the height as my SUV has roof rails, but it fit perfectly between them as the width of the bases are adjustable, and the cross bars easily cleared over the trucks rails. The suction cups held my roof very firmly and they installed in minutes on my roof. The strap is pretty secure as well. My Thule cartop Carrier easily attached.Just out of curiosity I also mounted then on my 2015 Sonata Hybrid to see if they would fit , and they fit very well! It's no Thule by any means but for $160 vs $500 per vehicle, I can live with it! Not sure I would drive across the country with it, but for vacations and weekend trips it works just fine. I was a bit skeptical but am glad I went ahead with the purchase.SB New Haven CT

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good roof rack This is really a good roof rack, especially for the price considering a Thule or Yak will cost you well over twice as much. And it was very easy to install. I only have one problem with it. The anchoring straps. The straps run through the car door, but instead of just hooking into the door frame they run all the way through along the ceiling. If your vehicle has a Concave ceiling they hang low and can touch your head. I'm 5'8 and it's close. I found running them through the handles above the inside doors can help this a bit, but would still prefer a better way like a hook on the door frame.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does everything it says it will do - Good Purchase When I first started kayaking, and needing a way to transport them, I purchased the 58" Versarail. I drive a Honda Accord (no rails, no rain gutter), so the Versarail or equivalent were the only choices, without purchasing a trailer and hitch. The Versarail is easy to install and quite sturdy. I carried two kayaks multiple times. Once I learned how to tie off everything well, no problems. I will also commend Malone customer service - they are great and answering questions and solving problems.
