The S Hook at the top of the trap is a big problem. This trap design should lie flat on the bottom of the water where you're crabbing. This allows crabs easy access to the bait attached to the trap. When you pull the trap up, it should form a basket making it difficult for any crabs snacking on your bait to escape. With the S hook at the top of the trap, 9 times out of 10 the S hook is caught on the netting, it doesn't form a basket, and any crabs snacking on your bait are dumped back in the water. I purchased around 10 of these traps for a family crabbing trip and had to spend several hours removing all the S hooks and rebuilding them into working traps.
