Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice pack, but not enough storage I bought this pack for a two-night backpacking trip. It was lightweight and simple, but I was disappointed with the lack of pockets. I also did not like how it opened up on the side. This was very clumsy out in the wilderness having all my clothes and food opened up and exposed. I would prefer a pack that is top loading and has more compartments, including loops large enough for a sleeping pad. Would be okay for someone who wants to travel extra light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Backpack! Lots of great features on this pack. Where to begin... Well, it's light and has good capacity for starters. My favorite feature by far is the D shaped opening for the main compartment. It makes packing easy and getting stuff out from the bottom is no problem at all because I leave one of the three zippers at the bottom. My next favorite feature is the back ventilation which is excellent. The pack is kept away from the body so there is constant airflow keeping my back relatively cool when carrying it even in hot (100+ degree) weather. The shoulder straps are light and "meshy" too. There are an ample number of additional pockets. I wish both the hip belt pockets were zippered, ( one is zippered, the other is a stretch pocket) but that's just my preference and not a big deal. The front stash pocket is nice and deep. I can easily fit workout clothes or a light jacket in there. The compression straps are great for holding stuff in place and I like how two of them go across the deep water bottle pockets on each side. I use a 32 oz Hydroflask and it fits in the water bottle pockets perfectly. I wouldn't go much larger than that for a water bottle, but then again, there's a hydration compartment too. I have not used that feature. Overall weight distribution is wonderful with the hip belts and sternum strap. This pack also has a nice lumbar pad and makes it quite comfortable to carry. The hip belts have VERY long straps in my opinion. For reference, I have a 32 inch waist and once I tighten the hip belts, the straps almost go down to my knees, this doesn't bother me, but it may bother some folks. I use this backpack on a daily basis carrying stuff for work including my laptop and also gym clothes and running shoes for after work- it all fits in the pack. I have also used it for all day activities like going to the zoo and day trips. This pack seems quite versatile and I think it can be used for day hikes/trips/activities, as an overnight backpack, carry on pack for a plane, or just getting around town. Overall, awesome backpack, awesome materials, and really like the color I chose. Would be great to see an integrated rain cover on it too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Great Trail Pack This pack has stood up to two years of a mountain biking, trail building, traveling, Boy Scout camp staff member. I got this pack at the beginning of last summer as my day to day pack for at camp carrying various items like water bottles, sweatshirts, and so on, daily necessities. I also used it for trail building and it surprisingly stood up to countless hand tools, power tools, and some gas powered tools being strapped onto and shoved in it. For daily use of hiking and walking around, the pack was great. When I didn't have a lot in it, it still felt right on my back, and like it wasn't there because of the lightweight but durable design. When I did have it packed, it distributed the weight very well throughout my shoulders and down to my hips with very, very comfortable straps. For riding my bike, it has a great low pro design so it stays snug to the back without moving around a whole lot. when I would hit jumps or drops it did come up a little, but nothing to noticeable. Convenience: I absolutely love the front style zipper and will look for that on any future packs I buy. I also loved the large outer pocket, it was very convenient for quick grabbing of things and fit anything from water bottles to sweatshirts. The reason I only gave it 4 stars was because of organization of small things. the 2 inner and outer pockets at the top of the pack were good, but I would like a few more for smaller miscellaneous items. Maybe pockets on the inside of the flap that folds out. Definitely an all around great backpack, its still holding strong after 2 years of me, and that is pretty darn good for how hard I am on equipment.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Uncomfortable Any type of weight in this bag makes the load on your shoulders feel extremely heavy. Not good to wear for any sustained period of time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good bag its a good bag more for day hiking I thought I could take it on A weekend trip but it won't fit my sleeping bag. But otherwise it's great has good support place for my camelback.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic access and comfortable pack Bought this pack 3 weeks ago for a 5 day trip to Great Smoky Mountain National Park 2. We stayed in a hotel so I only used it as a day pack for 8-12 mile hikes. First thing I noticed was how incredibly convenient the duffel bag-like opening is. With three zippers, it's easy to keep two at the top for more conventional top loader access, and one at the bottom to quickly grab something without having to fully open the pack (though laying down the pack and fully opening the flap was also a very convenient feature). One small gripe I had with the pack was that the flex suspension can make loading the pack with rigid objects somewhat annoying, as they slide around and don't conform to the suspension, but the fully opening the access panel made this easier to work out. Organization wise I loved the simplicity. The top of the lid has both interior and exterior pockets good for stashing small items like wallet, headlamp and snacks. The two mesh side pockets held up well also, being able to fit my 32oz Nalgene without any sliding up/out problems (especially when you use the compression straps that go right across this area to cinch in the bottle tightly). The front stash pocket is quite deep, able to fit both a 14" hatchet and my camera tripod without any issues of sliding out. Inside the main compartment is open save for the hanging reservoir sleeve which I didn't use, so instead I stashed a light 13L drybag and extra baselayer back there for a quick grab. Available space is the main reason I'm giving this pack only 4/5 stars. I guess I was just expecting to fit a little more into a 32L. Other than what I have previously mentioned, 2 regular vending machine sized plastic water bottles, a small ~7"x5"x4" camera bag, light rain shell, pair of boardshorts and lunch (2 sandwiches and a banana) was about all I could fit without having to really stuff it. As mentioned earlier the removable flex suspension cut made fitting all this somewhat difficult, though I admit I never took it out to try the pack without it.  My last comment is the reason why I never tried taking out the removable flex suspension. I found the comfort level of this pack to be excellent. The hip belt fit nicely, thought the pockets are very small, and was able to take most of the pack weight comfortably. The adjustable sternum strap was also convenient. The flex suspension allowed for great airflow between the pack and my back, so that I never got to the point of soaking my shirt (though the warmest temps we saw were about 80 degrees). If I had to give a gripe, the straps did get a little warm around the shoulders. Overall, great pack for what I needed. Incredible access, very comfortable, great exterior pockets, oh and quite weather resistant. The second day we hiked 8mi/4.5 hours in a steady drizzle. The pack kept everything but a few items in the outside lid pocket dry. Keep up the great work Marmot!
