Mild Temperatures

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great customer service I ordered a Precip large tall (I'm 6'4" with long arms) but received a regular large instead. However, the regular large fit perfectly with room for layers underneath (I personally prefer a more "athletic" fit rather than a baggy fit). So I called customer service and told them of the mistake, but instead of exchanging I wanted to get refunded the difference between LT and L. The rep was very friendly and immediately granted my request. It was one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had. As for quality, it kept me dry in drizzling rain and safe from gusty winds while biking in Switzerland!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great cool weather wind breaker not a rain jacket I got this because it packed down nice and small in my bag and I have usually had great luck with Marmot products. I was using this for lightweight three day trips while I was doing different sections of the Appalachian Trail through Maryland and the Virginia's. I used the jacket at night as a windbreaker/lightweight jacket and it was great. The problem came when I started to get rained on. This was not heavy rain just a light shower and most of it was not making it through the canopy of the trees. The only area of me that stayed dry was the areas covered by my backpack. I plan try the Nikwax wash in water treatment on it to see if that help.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent lightweight rain protection I live in Seattle where it always seems to be raining. This is a very lightweight shell which offers superb wetness protection and is beautifully designed for adjustable fit AND breathability. Had mine for years and it doesn't show a speck of wear. I've also worn it in India during monsoon season and was so impressed I bought one for a friend down here. He pointed out a drawback worth mentioning: even though it will keep out the rain, you can still get a little chilly if you're riding a motorcycle because fabric so thin. Of course it wasn't designed for that, but that's the only complaint I'm ever likely to hear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Raining Days Received my first Marmot PreCip jacket as an anniversary present a year ago. So completely satisfied with the jacket, over the past year I have purchased as presents one for my husband, my mother, my father, my sister and recently a second one for myself (to get another color). It is practically "feather" weight and packs easily for travel, yet it is so well made that it will keep you completely dry and a year later still looks like new. I can use it fall, winter and spring in Louisiana. It has also been my "go to" jacket for summer rains in the Colorado mountains, a rainy October trip to New York City and a fall trip to Europe. I love that it is practical and fashionable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great jacket but new version lacks extra pockets I've used the previous version of this jacket for many years. It was great for traveling: hood stored in collar and interior pocket as well as Napoleon-type pocket. Under warranty Marmot was very kind to replace the jacket, which speaks very well for the company. Unfortunately, to lower weight the 2 extra pockets were removed and the hood, while still stored in the collar, no longer is zipped away. I have used the inside pocket quite regularly while traveling in major cities where at times one's passport and wallet need to be kept away from potential pick pockets. This actually helped me out on the Madrid metro on one visit. Unfortunately, while I'll still take the jacket traveling, its utility is diminished. It is no longer the ultimate travel jacket for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not waterproof at all Bought this jacket because of the nice fit and color choices (green). The first hike with it i was in heavy bush and noticed moisture in the creases of my elbows, chalked it up to perspiration/rubbing up against trees. The second hike was about two hours in a light rain. Completely soaked through, the jacket was saturated as were all of the clothes underneath. Extremely disappointed with the product. I guess it would make a nice windbreaker, but if you're looking for a rain jacket this product is a waste of money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for unpredictable English weater I wear this jacket pretty much every day as I cycle a lot and need something light but waterproof. Rain or shine it's good enough to keep you dry, but doesn't make you feel too hot if the sun comes out (barely ever in Manchester!) I also took it travelling with me as it's super light and easy to pack away. However, the lining is starting to peel away in one of the arm pits which is a shame as other than that I think it's great!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from OK for the price but wets out quickly light and packable, mine has been quite durable - so far has lasted for several years of backpacking, hunting, fishing and hiking. It gets balled up and squashed into tight packs but has held up well. The only gripe I have is that it wets out very quickly. There doesn't seem to be any kind of water repellency to the outer fabric, so it gets wetted out, clammy, cold and heavy. I'm going to try some Nikwax or Revivex DWR treatment, if that doesn't help will have to start shopping again.. I rate it good for the price, and it doesn't actually let water through.
