I bought this gear as a Christmas gift for my 10 year old son who plays rec, travel, and club baseball and usually borrowed gear from the team. Average height (maybe slightly tall) and average weight for his age. I was debating between youth and intermediate sizes but went with youth. Although most of our clothing purchases are based on “he’ll grow into it”, this is not practical for catcher’s gear. We tried on the intermediate sizes at the store and found the shin guards to be too long for his legs. The thigh protector was almost all the way up to the top of his thigh. This would have limited his movement on the field. The intermediate chest protector would be long but probably not too long when adjusted. The gap between the kneecap piece and thigh piece looks unusually large when he’s squatting, but I’m not sure a baseball can fit there to reach his leg. Overall, this set will serve him this year and maybe next. But he’ll grow out of it after his next growth spurt. I highly recommend trying on the gear for size before taking it out on the field.

Great Catcher’s Gear
I bought this catcher’s gear for my son, and it has exceeded all our expectations. He plays youth baseball and spends a lot of time behind the plate, so having quality gear was really important to us. This set delivers on all fronts—comfort, protection, and durability. The fit is excellent, with adjustable straps that made it easy to get everything snug and secure. My son says the chest protector feels really comfortable and doesn’t restrict his movement at all, which is a big deal when he’s blocking pitches or making quick throws. The leg guards stay in place during the game and offer great protection, especially around the knees. The helmet is well-ventilated and gives him a clear field of vision, which he loves. Very Comfortable
My son fits in these great! He says they are very comfortable & gets the job done. The only thing i would change is the velcro piece that connects to the bottom of the chest pad. It's always falling off.
