GAMECHANGER BAT LAB OVERVIEW:

The Marucci F5 is an underappreciated bat that sits at the top of the silver tier. Although it just missed the cut for gold, the bat earned a 4.18/5 overall with surprisingly great numbers on both Trackman and Blast Metrics. The bat showed a nice blend of contact and power, boosting marginal hard hit rate (7.81%) and peak hand (2.48%) by significant amounts to give hitters a controlled and powerful swing. The player reviews were not kind to the F5, but the data shows a better performance than the reviews may suggest.

PROS/CONS:

• Pros: Great control, Good for line drive approach
• Cons: Unforgiving barrel, Uncomfortable grip/knob

WHO SHOULD BUY:

• The Marucci F5 is great for gap hitters (14-19) - guys in the lineup who hit for a high average, sending balls to the opposite field gaps for extra bases, but also protect the count and hunt singles when down 0-2.

TRADEOFFS:

• Hitters were not happy with the grip and power hitters will want a heavier, end-loaded bat with more resistance and pop.
