Exceeding Expectations
So far, so great! I bought these for a 300k pilgrimage hike, which I have not yet undertaken - but as an experienced hiker, I can tell these are gonna be great. Wide width, very grippy, supportive, but not too stiff or heavy.

Not Waterproof
I live in the rainy Pacific Northwest and hike year-round, so when something says it's waterproof, I learn pretty quickly whether it's waterproof or not. These boots are waterproof for a month, then leak. My feet were quite damp on the sides and underneath the tongue after today's hike. Given that the warranty is one year, you should not need to replace these every two months, but I'm already having issues with the new pair I was given by Merrell after I called in the warranty just two months ago. For me, boot is very comfortable and doesn't require any breaking in time. They're also not too heavy and have good traction on rocky terrain, but the lack of waterproofing is unacceptable on a boot that's labeled as such. I have had this issue with many Merrell boots. It's a difficult compromise between a comfortable shoe and actually staying dry when it's wet. If you don't hike in wet conditions, this may be a fantastic boot for you, but if you are going to be rained on while you hike, look elsewhere.
