Rated 4 out of 5 by from Useful in the backcountry As a ranger at Thye Dyrt, I get to test out products in the field and I brought this radio out with me on one of my most recent trips. I enjoyed that I was able to set incoming severe weather alerts which can be particularly useful when out hiking as it eliminates the need to constantly scan the radio for updates or search for cell reception in order to access the weather. I also loved that I was able to play the radio for the better part of 2 days straight without having to recharge. When I first received the device, it was unclear what exact steps needed to be taken in order to get the radio started. After some fiddling with the device, I discovered that it is necessary to open up the battery compartment, remove the lithium ion battery and then plug in the lithium ion battery. The radio itself does not come with any instructions that explain this, however, on the product page on Midland's website, there is a link clearly labeled ER310 Battery Installation Instructions. My next critique is that there is not a button protector for the power button and in a fully packed backpack, the radio is susceptible to randomly turning on and off at times. You could maybe avoid this by hooking the radio by its handle on the outside of the pack.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A real asset here in central Texas We have had the ER-210 for a month now and very pleased with this WX radio. The solar cell charger feature is great. We leave the radio in a window to keep it fully charged. Only neg. comment is the same as many others...you need better and more prominent instructions on connecting the battery before trying to charge the radio.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Emergency Radio I've had the Midland for about a month and everything seems to be working on it. Reception is fine, flashlight is good, S.O.S. signal works, and it charged up fairly quickly via an outlet. After testing it and making sure everything worked, I ran the radio for about an hour or so...a month later it's still showing fully charged! It's doing what it's supposed to, but I'll have to run the radio nonstop and see how long the battery really lasts. So far, I'm happy with it. It has a flashlight and radio, and you're able to charge it 3 different ways. The Midland also allows you to charge your handheld devices using a USB connection. For an emergency, it functions and for the money, I think this is worth it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value! I bought this handcrank/battery/solar powered emergency radio and am very happy with it! One day previous to my purchase, I woke up to no power in the house and was afraid of the cause: an attack by North Korea?! Now I can find out thru my ER from Midland!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little radio, fun for our guests We operate storm chasing tours and reliable radios are very important to us. We have had Midland radios before that have worked great, but these step up the game to a new level for us. We let our tour guests use them to hear warnings and these haven't failed us yet. The extra charging features are a plus from our old crank only style radios. Battery lasts forever it seems!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Handy I bought this three weeks before I lost power for the weekend. The small size makes it handy and the multiple charging options are handy. The downside of this product are the battery needs to be plugged in first the directions are not clear and it is not easy to do. It also does not come with a plug or car adapter for USB cable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The weather radio is very good and picks up signals from transmiters quite far away. The fm radio is okay, and the am radio stinks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The instructions should tell you to plug the battery into the device. I needed to do that via the website. But it charging now, we’ll see how well it worKS for Irma.
