Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solidly built. First, 28 miles is nothing more than marketing hogwash. No radio, no matter how powerful, will reach 28 miles when held 5 feet off the ground. Radio waves travel by line of sight, and at 5 feet will meet the horizon in 3 miles. With 2 radios at 5 feet, your horizon limited range will be 5 miles, if there are no hills in the way to raise that horizon. To get 28 miles, both radios would need to be 100 feet above the average ground elevation, say on two hills, before the horizon would begin to interfere with the signal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super handy! Why did I wait so long to get? My husband and I drive 2 vehicles to/from Florida each year. He pulls the RV and I follow him. Using cell phones while driving proved to be too complicated, especially for communicating hazards or upcoming exits and turns. We bought these for our return trip to Michigan and can't believe we didn't get them sooner. They are easy to use and hold their charge for the entire day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits our need. These miniature radios replace earlier Midland units that were about five years old. The small size allows them to be conveniently carried in shirt pocket and have sufficient power for my wife and I to clearly converse anywhere on our 13 acre wooded property...an excellent safety measure for this octogenarian reviewer. My only dislike is the USB charging port that did not include an adapter for 110V wall receptacle. The sales rep had no clue what I was talking about when I asked if it had a 110V/USB adapter in the box. Since it didn't, I purchased one at a nearby electronics store.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No complaints I have had a pair of these for just over a year. I bought them a a local tractor supply store on a whim. I have used these with my MXT115, no complaints. and decent range. I can talk from the MXT115 to home at about 1-2 miles regular in a heavily populated area. I was actually surprised at the range I get in a residential area compared to others I have tried. I do have others that can outperform these but these are in my book a keeper. I like how it tells me the batteries are fully charged and functions are easy to understand. I do have my GMRS license and have been "playing" around with GMRS learning as I go trying to stay part 95 compliant. Great for using on Bike rides, camping or in a group out off roading

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Radio's range isn't the greatest The radios worked great. We used them to communicate between two cars on a road trip. However the range listed at 28 miles is very misleading. We were only able to communicate at most a half-mile away from each other.I am also guessing that there is are some issues as with talking through closed spaces as I tried testing these with my buddy communicating between our homes (about a mile away) and couldn't get them to work. The battery also isnt the best as we got about an hour of talk time on a full charge. But other than they worked good and you couldn't beat the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I went from the t51 xtalkers to the t55vp3,s an what a difference theese are great radios for an xtra 10-20bux i did invest in some energizer rechargeable batteries an they last for all day when on full charge i just didnt care for the battery packs….. These t55,s reach up to 3 miles in the city an that was a shocker so my 9yr old doesnt quite need a cell phone yet these reach to all his friends easily

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clear reception/high quality Camping in an isolated area behind a large hill was the perfect place to review these radios. However, with the hill as an obstruction our range was limited. The Midland's instruction booklet is easy to follow, buttons are easy to operate, radio is comfortable to hold, and the belt clip is very tight (exercise care unlatching to prevent breaking). The NOAA Weather Radio is a great feature too. The radios can be charged while positioned on the charging stand or via a charging cord plugged directly into the radio and to an electrical source (such as a portable power bank). We are very impressed with the clear reception and convenience of the Midland X-Talker Two-way Radios. We are looking forward to using these radios during our future no-cell service camping, fishing, and hiking adventures.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty rad but... I bought this two way radio pack a bit back and the next day I tried to use them they seemed to work wonders. The one fall back to them were the fact they don't have such great reach in the city (which is to be expected but the reach wasn't really that far out, maybe like a few blocks apart is what I tested it out to be) Though out in the wilderness they seem to have quite some reach. Though the best part is this item seems to work with other radios from the same maker, you just need them on the same channel.
