Stretch component allows free movement without bunching or twisting under a shell.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Needed a replacement to my north face nano puff and this is an upgrade. Perfect to wear on its own or as a midlayer during winter. I also like the flexibility and stretch around the shoulders. It will be my go to puffy when I go backpacking in the high sierra this summer. Hoping it holds up as long or longer than my nf nano.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As far as the jacket goes I love it so far. Great fit. I’m 5’10, 215 pounds very active. I fit in a large perfect. Fits the shoulders and arms well which is where most jackets fail me. Body fits nice but is not too tight. In regards to customer service, I had to exchange for a different size. The customer chat was initially very unhelpful and unpleasant but ended up processing the exchange.

Super happy with this jacket so far. It has performed well during Minnesota winter. I use it daily and have also used it as a mid layer while snowboarding.

I love the look, the fit, the feel, just about everything about this jacket. There are two missing features though and one was a deal breaker for me. First, there is no breast pocket. I have a strong preference for having one. Second, and this is the deal breaker for me. There is no waist cinch. At no point does the wait of this jacket touch my body, so drafts of air will be a problem. the length of the sleeves is perfect, maybe a tad long, but i prefer that over too short. I wish the small fit, but it is too tight, even more my slim figure.

Received this coat as a gift. I have other name brand jackets and this one fits right in as far as quality. It looks and fits great. It has only been one month but so far very happy with this coat.
I work as a backcountry guide and educator. I rely heavily on insulated jackets in my day to day work. I have to say, I was disappointed in trying this one out. The fabric isn't terribly stretchy or light. It is underfilled and for that reason not a great insulating down jacket for the price or the weight. I wasn't able to keep warm during my normal ski tours using this jacket. There are many other down jackets in my closet I would take before this one. That being said, this jacket is stylish, so it would be a good option if you are looking for something to wear out on the town as street wear. The concept of the offset baffling is really interesting and I could see it work effectively if stuffed with more down insulation and if the jacket included a hood as well. I am interested to see future iterations of this jacket but at the moment it needs work.

I will preface my review by saying that I am biased towards ultralight gear. I am a trail runner and backcountry skier based in Seattle, WA. My adventures in the mountains are often focused on the fast-and-light mentality; long trail runs with a small pack, big ski mountaineering objectives, or off-trail backpacking trips where I try to minimize weight and maximize packing efficiency. The Stretchdown Light Jacket is wonderfully comfortable and quite stylish. But it is just not compact or light enough for my use cases. I got the Men’s M size and it fit me perfectly. I stand 6’1’’ and weigh 175 pounds. I felt that the jacket had a great torso length and appropriate amount of room in the chest and torso area. The problem for me was the fill power, weight, and compactness of the jacket. At 700 fill power and 14.5 oz for the Mens M, it just isn’t light enough for my use. It does pack into it's internal pocket, but is larger than a standard 1L Nalgene when packed down. This doesn’t work for me when I have a 12L running pack or 30L SkiMo pack. That said, the piece would be great for use at the crag, on backpacking trips where you have the opportunity for more carrying capacity, or as an around town jacket. As I mentioned, the StretchDown is wonderfully comfortable and really does have a great ‘moving’ profile in that it does stretch when you are actively moving around. If you are looking for a more affordable alternative to the expensive Ghost Whisperer and are willing to sacrifice on weight or packability, then this is a great choice for you. It’s comfortable, fairly warm, and has a simple and sleek look. But if you are looking for a high warmth-to-weight ratio that packs down small, this won’t quite fit the bill.
