Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best Freeze-dried Meal I've had yet Bought this for Bikepacking in Maine's Baxter State Park. Weight AND bulk were important. I re-packaged this meal by opening it, dumping it in a Ziploc, pressing all the air out, and closing the ziploc. The packaging is excessive. Repackaged, this meal is about 2"x6". It prepares in about 6-7 minutes (not counting boiling the water). The balance between chicken, rice, vegetables, and sauce was just right for me - but be prepared - it's more of a goulash/stew/thick soup. I ate it with a spoon. It won't work with a fork. The balance of tartness and sweetness is excellent. It's not too salty either - a common plague for many of these meals. I didn't have runny or loose stool afterward - yet another common plague. (Sorry to be gross.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Delicious, but a bit hard to pack Just used this on the Appalachian Trail and had to split it with a friend. Serving Size says 2.5 and after hiking all day it was too much for one person. This particular flavor/ meal was very good and was very welcoming after a difficult day. I would say that it is difficult to pack as there is air inside the bag. I recommend going with the Pro pack that is vacuum sealed and takes up less space. I am considering buying more and having them in the pantry for in case of emergency or the next camping trip.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Great I'm a big teriyaki fan, so thought this would be a great choice. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Most of it went uneaten. It could have been worse. If I were on an expedition and needed to force it down in order to survive, I could have. But on the last meal of a 3-day trip, I was more than willing to go hungry for a meal, knowing that I was packing out in the morning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Flavor & Portion Size I bought this particular meal to add variety to my hiking and camping meals. It is very tasty in my opinion and has adequate portion size for two persons if it isn't the only thing being eaten for the meal. I find that using the prescribed amount of water along with adequate stirring and a little longer sit time makes for a better dish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mountain House is the best. I use Mountain House every time I go camping/hiking. I've never had a bad one, but the Chicken Teriyaki is one of my favorites....little sweet and little spicy. I've tried some of the other freeze dried meals and they do not compare. I did find the time they recommend its sits is a little short. It's usually 13-15 minutes not 10.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Slimy Mush The look of relief on my son's face when I tasted this meal and told him he didn't have to eat it if he didn't want it was worth the $9 I threw away on this product. Maybe if we were starving we would have forced it down, but we weren't so all but about 6 small bites went into the trash.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from First try of a freeze dried meal I prepared the meal per the instructions provided. It worked well, and was filling, but to me it lacked something. This was my first freeze dried meal, so maybe I was expecting more than they are. To me there was too much food. I was not able to finish all of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light, compact, easy to prepare, & tasty Got it for a 4-day hike. It's light, compact, easy to prepare, and it tastes good. The portion sizes turned out to be accurate for our group. A clear bottom would have made it easier to see whether we had mixed it well enough.
