[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this for a 27 mile backpacking trip and my dog had never carried a pack before. He got used to it in a very short time and it was perfect. I didn’t have to tighten the straps excessively and it rode very well. He carried his own food, snacks and bowls. He also eventually carried my water sandals after our many water crossings! I read lots of reviews trying to choose the perfect pack and I am very happy with my purchase!!

Every Ounce Counts
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Trying to lighten my pack by a few ounces led me to purchase my dog Marlin his own pack. I am so happy I did, and he now feels more like a part of the pack. ;)

Awesome Fit!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We got this pack for our Bernese Mountain dog who is on the small end. The large fits her perfect and it ample space for plenty of water, food and a few extras while we start prepping for backpacking. So far so good!

Nice Roomy Backpack For My 70-pound Dog
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Now that I have had a chance to use this "K-9 pack" on the trail I want to mention some things I like and dislike about this useful backpack. My dog is a 70-pound shepherd mix who is rather enthusiastic both when trail-running and backpacking. Upon receiving the Mountainsmith K-9 Pack, it took some mental work (on my part) to figure out which adjustments helped to fit the pack to my dog. I really like the locks on some of the adjustment buckles which really clamped down the straps once I got the length right. It is not clear why these useful locks are only on some of the buckles. I really like the roominess of each pack section. I was able to fit a one-quart water bottle and a quart ziploc bag of food in each side thus creating a well-balanced load. While at first, my dog did not seem to understand that he was supposed to walk with the pack on, once he got the hang of it, he seemed to accept it which I took to mean it was comfortable for him. My dog likes to occasionally stop and roll in the tall grass which lead to an amusing problem when he became stuck with the full pack on so that his feet stuck up in the air and he was unable to figure out how to turn back over. One time, this lead to funny photos but another time in his effort to free himself, he was able to wiggle out of the backpack. Overall, I was happy with the construction and performance of this pack.

Really Nice Pack Design
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just bought this pack and really happy with it. The adjustment straps are well though out and allowed me to get a good fit for my pup. The added details, easily adjustable flip lock straps, quick click release that allows me to simply lift the pack off (no fishing legs through straps), little side pockets, and padding to cover the clips so they don't rub up against the pooch, all help make this a really nice pack. All that said, there are a couple details that could make this pack great. It would be nice if the pouch's had straps that could cinch the bags closer if they are not full. No water got inside the pack, but it definitely didn't shed water on the outside material. Looking forward to seeing this pack evolve and will check back in a few years to see how it has improved. I've tried a lot of packs with my dog and this is the best yet.
