Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality made, affordable, Smart design - short entry way :( Bottom Line:Pros: Smart Design, Solid Build Quality, Excellent Value, Possibly THE Best Multi-weather 3 Season TentCons: Vestibule Doorway Too ShortThis tent is one of my favorite design concepts for a true 3 season tent. It has very liveable room for a single person and can readily accommodate 2 average sized people (like a full size bed width), however, like most 2 person tents, it's more ideal for one person who just wants a little extra elbow room and storage capacity than one would find with a single person tent. Many will want a 3 person tent for two people. Here are the pluses:1) Excellent Value - Price is hard to beat2) Easy Setup - Makes a big difference - simple is better in my view3) Well vented - two top vents, plus lots of mesh make this a smart design4) Zippered door panels - these allow you to zip the mesh closed, which is very convenient for anyone who has a lot of tent experience. When you first hit the hay, you can leave the vestibules open (or closed) and also the widow panels in the doors to expose extra mesh. Then when it cools, you can zip the panels on the tent body's doors up to close off that mesh, to retain more heat or cut down on any potential breeze. Very handy, very smart, adds a bit of weight, but so functional.5) Stakes - while they aren't high end like those you find in MSR, Big Agnes, or Sierra Designs more high end tents, they are really well designed. The stakes can be used to help press the others in to the ground so you don't have to use a rock, or shoe. They don't seem like they would easily bend and their shape is quite smart.6) Durable - Wow! This thing is rugged. Possibly one of the most solid tents I own. I have the Marmot Aspen 2, Sierra Designs FL2, Big Agnes Wyoming Trail, couple Kelty tents, REI Half Dome. and I am not sure that any of those tents match the structure of this one. Now regarding fabric materials or pole strengths, I can't say if those components are better or worse per tent mentioned, but when you finally get this tent together, it's just stout. Wiggle it and it doesn't budge. Impressive. Wind, rain, snow--I don't think it's a problem regarding the structure.Cons:1) The most critical issue with the tent is that the vestibule door stops a few inches from the peak, so it makes it hard to get in and out. I think this was done to help ensure rainwater doesn't creep inside, and maybe especially if you leave both vestibule wings open, perhaps, but it's probably its worst feature.2) Weight - It's heavier than many other quality 2 person tents. If you are attacking the AT, and need featherweight, this tent is not it. However, if you need it for a road trip, car camping, or are an avid motorcycle Adventure bike traveler, like me, this tent is quite manageable. It packs small enough for most riders.3) This is a smaller issue for me, but it's a little dark inside. Not as bright inside as a Big Agnes, MSR Hubba Hubba NX or Marmot Aspen 2. On the plus side, its a little more stealthy, somewhat, at least at night. Though in the day, the brighter green stands out well enough I think. A plus for some, but I personally would like earthy color outside (stealthy for side-of-the road camping) and bright on the inside so I can see better when I am looking for something in the dark.4) No night-time reflectivity - Again, this could be a plus if you don't want to be seen at night, but the only thing that has any reflectivity is the actual guyline strings themselves, and even then, it's very, very slight and hard to notice. Not a deal breaker, by any means, but something that I noticed. In conclusion, I think this tent is a superior value and well-made and thought-out. My biggest gripe is the short confining entry way through the rain fly. Without the fly on, the doors are expansive and welcoming. They zip almost the whole way around. You don't need to zip them this way, and can unzip the entry way partially and still get a spacious entry way. When you do zip the door all the way open, the doorway zips to about 8 o'clock with a few inches between each zipper (ie, this is the segment attached the the tent-body's walls). You can tuck it well out of the way on the side so you don't step on it. But again, you don't really need to open it all the way to get through.Perhaps the single best thing about this tent other than setup, making it a strong contender, is that you have both venting and de-venting options. Few tents offer you the ability to increase ventilation or decrease it by opening or sealing off the mesh from inside. This is one of the most liveable features about this model. You still have the standard rainfly vents. You have two, and they are opposing, presumably ideal for airflow to reduce heat and especially condensation.Like many tents, you can leave the wings of the vestibule open, but only this tent allows you to close off the mesh at the doorways, so you don't have to get out to close off the airflow of the rain-fly if you left it open. Of course, on the coldest of nights, it's probably best to close off everything, though, as to be expected and true with any tent, added condensation will be the result.
