[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been a fan of MSR products since my first backpacking trip. I purchased a cook set with wider flatter plates, but still the same design style, and have been pleased with the design and function for several years now. This newer mess kit is very similar, my only complaint is that the mugs are all plastic, inside and out, where the older mugs that came with the cook set were I assume stainless or some other alloy. I haven’t had a chance to use them to see any difference in taste or insulation. Still good quality, first impression did not disappoint overall!

The kit was exactly what I expected, great design/quality product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son needed this for boy scouts. It seems to do the job just fine. The spork was really difficult to fold back down again, once initially opened, but after I pushed the little "side-teeth" in a bit it seemed to get used to the fact that it is supposed to both open AND close. It's nice that it's a two-person set, though I do wish it came with a second bag for my other son who will use the other set in two years.

I purchased this set for my wife and me for short to mid length hikes. The weight correlates with the strong construction and the ability to be creative with its nesting features allows it to ride in my MSR pot and hold other items as well.
