Perhaps a bit bulkier than old school wire tent stakes, but quite a bit for durable and reliable in a variety of conditions. I picked these up to use with tarp shelters and to replace missing stakes in other tents and gear. In short, they work.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Yes, they worked well taking care of the vampire infestation. Also held down the my tarp in the wind. Easy into the ground, but they don’t pull out. Much better than the tube type stakes.

Just finished West Coast Trail and these worked great in sand and dirt. Awesome spikes!

They stuck very well, and I was putting them into a very rocky / dense sand type of surface. Was able to use a rock to hammer them in, and they worked like a charm. With no fear of bending! Great product!

Got them in on time and righ away decided to setup my tent in backyard and wow very impressed, the cheap mickey mouse stakes that was used prior could not hole the vestibules alwasy slid out, thes MSR grounhogs not only held both sides of the clips that hole the vestibule but felt like these stakes can hole everything mother nature will send its way; so yeah very impressed

They keep a tent in place. They are solidly built and slide into the ground easily. Another winner from MSR! Everybody says go ultra-lite. But the titanium ultra-lite stakes just don’t hold up. I recommend these stakes for everyone.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For a long time, I used Easton Nobendium stakes. I only ever bent 2 in 20+ years. My new MSR Groundhogs were purchased to help replace my Eastons. They are the best. They drive easily and go into the hardest ground. Moreover, they held in sodden muck after 5" of rain in WV's Seneca State Forest. I continue to be impressed. They are worth the money.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These stakes are great and perfect for backpacking, they are so much lighter then my other ones. MSR is my go to for several things, and now they are for stakes.

Used several Groundhog tent stakes this weekend in very cold and windy conditions. Placing them in the hard or soft ground and removing was fairly easy, probably easier than my buddy and his plastic and in style stakes, he even snapped one. I also appreciate the reflective string, which makes them easy to see at night when trying to take that late night relief.
