Good To Go After Removing Tongue Gusset Band

The Ellipse is comfortable, soft ride. I got the 4E width. The size and fit is described on theNB website as designed for those with very wide feet, high arches, and very high foot height (this is me for sure). All good, except the tongue of the shoe is tied down on each side with elastic gussets that make the shoe too tight for my high arches. I cut out the elastic gusset bands and now the shoe fits well, and BTW the tongue stays in place.... like every other running shoe I've ever worn since the 70's. So all good now, but who decided gusseted tongues were necessary?

Squishy And Hot

I find the shoes hot, I hope with more wear the puffy tongue flattens out. The foam is plush and maybe a bit too squishy? I also find I get this sensation like I have stepped on a rock and its stuck to the sole of the shoe at least once a day but the shoes don't have gaps that a stone could wedge its self in? Strange sensation.
