The newest v6 is very different from the v5. What used to fit my wide feet no longer does. The changed the pattern of the rubber around the front of the shoe, so it’s more limiting than it was it the v5. As far as I can tell there is no difference between the pickleball and tennis versions of the 996v6. The older v5 pickleball shoe had a pickleball design on the heel and a completely different structural pattern between mesh nd rubber on the entire front half of the shoe.

I have been buying these shoes for years. Clearly something has changed in the design. They are horribly uncomfortable and the wide doesn’t fit like wide shoes of the past. I always load up on shoes when I find them in my size, width so now I’m stuck with shoes I can’t even wear.

I had the 996v5 wide that fit perfectly with my insoles for my flat feet so I decided to to get the exact same model and size wide but they were 996v6. They were nothing like the v5. Wides were not wide. I thought I just needed to break them in so they would fit like a glove like the v5 but they just got worse after 3 daysof pickleball. My feet hurt and knees hurt. I’m not sure what I will do now. My v5’s are worn out. So disappointing!

Secures my foot in place while playing which is important to me because I tend to bruise my toenails with the lateral movements. Glad New Balance updated the stock photo for this shoe because it was the men's colorway for a while. I also, I wish that womens colors were also mens colors just like Brooks shoes. I prefer mens colorways but cannot get them due to my smaller size.

I have a bad foot and need stable, well balanced sneaks. These were really great for pickleball.
