Overall a good quality shoe. The way they redesigned the back heal of the shoe the gator goes down most of the way to the heal which makes it slippery especially the first few times wearing the shoes. Initially went up a half size as recommended (8.5) and had to re-order to get my correct size (8) to help with the slipping. I wish they had stuck with the peg trail 4 instead of redesigning. I will be interested to test these out in the rail/weather to see if they are as water proof with the free tongue and lower gator on the shoes. Overall no real break in period as they were comfortable out of the box.

Bought a pair of the older versions of these (no longer on website for review) and they do not breathe at all. Great for short runs, but long hikes can leave you with sweaty feet, which is a recipe for blisters. I completed the Kalalau trail last week and I'm writing this review because of exactly that. I experienced the worst blisters of my life. I have been on equally difficult trails with similar distances in my former Nike trail shoes. I would not purchase again and I'm admittedly sad to see Nike's trail running shoe quality decline over the years.

They are extremely comfortable, look fantastic, match with everything and are absolutely perfect for my hikes with my dog. I ordered a second pair last week.

I got these slo I could stay dry in the rain. Definitely exceeded expectations. These shoes have been trough it in the few weeks I’ve had them & still look new. Comfy & love the bright colors!
Both times I’ve worn them in wet weather, my feet got wet. Aside from that, they’re some of my most comfortable shoes.

Ive had these for a few months now and ive had no issues eith durability or comfortability. I wear them whenever its been raining and have no real issues with wet feet or slipping. Overall, great shoe!

There OK, But the Tongue is tight, no padding at all, the Collar is very low, you will end up walking right out of your shoe. Not sure about winter shows, but from experiences with sneakers these are probably water proof but a little stiff which can work out. the big problem is the low collar and tongue has no padding and pinches in top foot. They do run true to there size but all there sneakers do from my experience with them.

I have these in 2 colors. Best support of all my athletic shoe collection. The cushion lining around the ankle makes for a great fit. No need for time to break in the shoes. Great for everything right out of the box.

Very disappointed! Order at least 1/2 size bigger! Runs extremely small tight and very narrow The area where the shoe tongue is gave me a lot of pain

They are definitely comfortable, but here are the details: the upper part felt tight (for both me and my husband — we bought the same model), so I had to cut some of the threads because it was squeezing too much. The sole is comfortable, but after using my sneakers for 30 days straight they already have holes. We bought them for a trip, (Japan ) and I don’t think they should look like this after just 30 days, but oh well. (My husband’s sneaker are ok, mine … well.. full of holes ) That being said, my feet never got wet. (My sister bought my for me in the United States because the color I wanted wasn’t available here.)

The tongue on these shoes is punishing. Whoever thought a seam on the tongue, right on the rising part of the instep of the foot was a good idea, definitely did not think it through. Have never had this issue with any other Nike shoe. The rest of the shoe fits well and is comfortable, but after attempting to wear these in for multiple weeks, the problem of it chafing the instep of my foot right where the seam is, has not gone away.

Not recommended for distance running. I’ve worn other Nike models and Hoka for long distance and these are the first of my shoes to have really poor support on runs over 4-6 miles. There isn’t enough shock absorbance or cushion and I really feel it in my toes. They do keep my feet dry! The waterproofing is solid.

There was no breaking-in period for these -- comfortable right out of the box. I hike 3-6 miles almost every day on trails, and bought these to keep my feet warm and dry during snowy and wet winter hikes as low as 0°. These do not disappoint! My feet stayed supported and dry even in 4 -5 inches or more of snow and on very uneven terrain. I loved them so much I bought a second pair locally, since I've learned to stock up when something works so well. I never tried other customers' much-loved Trail 4 Gore-Tex so I can't compare. The 5's are not tight in the forefoot on me, I like the way the tongue is attached, as well as the soft material around the ankles. If they made these in an ankle-high hiking boot version, I'd buy those too, for rougher terrain and deeper snow.
