Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for 45-70 Marlin Guide Gun I was searching for a scope for my 45-70 Marlin Guide Gun and discovered that the ballistics of some shotgun slugs are similar to that of a 45-70. Someone online also suggested this scope for 45-70 so I decided to mount one on the gun and site it in for 50 yards. Once I had it zeroed in I used the BDC to aim at something that was 150 yards away and the scope was spot on. Since it's made for the recoil of a slug gun it has great eye relief and is also able to withstand the punishing recoil of a 45-70. All of these things together makes this a great scope for a 45-70.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Clear optics, easy to sight in Since this was mail order vs in store purchase I did not have it bore sighted prior to actually sighting the scope in to my gun. I started at 25 yds to get an idea how it was shooting. I was 3" left 2 1/2" low on two shots. Made the necessary adjustments and within 3 shots grouping in the bullseye. Moved to 50 yards as recommended, shot 3" high 3"left. Made the adjustments, dead on. Without bore sighting figure on at least 20 shells to sight in, after sighting in the scope was very consistant. I really like the clarity that Nikon optics offer. This should make a great deer scope, looking forward to season.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Service, product, spot on ballistics--5 stars 1. I ordered this scope online to pick up at local store-less than 1 hour later they emailed it was ready. went to get it and as always was given excellent service.2. Every feature is as they describe. Put it on a Savage 220(also bought at Dick's). Went to the range and sighted in with my own hand loaded slugs and got 2" group at 50 yds. Switched to Remington Accutip's and got 1/2" group at 50 yds. 2" above heart on deer target.3. Nikon's spot on ballistics calculator is an education on how to use this scope. You enter the the data and you can learn what distance is for each circle. They also do printable charts for flight path, velocity, energy and more.Excellent product and service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Scope for the money Glass is very bright and clear. The BDC reticle is spot on. The ballistic software was very accurate. I mounted this scope on a Benelli Super Black Eagle II. I used Federal Truball slugs in a smoothbore barrel with an improved cylinder scope. Zero was 50 yards. The scope was right on the money out to 140 yds using the nikon spoton online ballistic software. I didn't shoot any farther than 140. Just not practical in my opinion. I believe Nikon scopes are the best on the market in their price range.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Warranty Change I just purchased my fifth Nikon 2-7X32 Prostaff Shotgun Scope. Four were purchased new, and one was used but had been repaired by Nikon. The warranty for the new scope is different that the previous purchases. Prior to this year it was not necessary to register the scope, or keep a copy of the purchase invoice. The old warranty stated "This Nikon product is warranted by Nikon Inc. to be free from defects in material and workmanship for the lifetime of the product -- even if you are not the original owner. No warranty card is required to obtain warranty ervice". The new scope I just purchased has a different warranty statement. It states "This Nikon product is warranted by Nikon Inc. to be free from defects in material and workmanship for the lifetime of the product from the date of purchase by the original consumer purchaser.--- This warrantey extends to the original consumer purchaser only and is not assignable or transferable. You must present this warranty form together with proof of purchase that includes purchase date (Bill of Sale) to obtain warranty service". Save your proof of purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! Put this on my savage 220 and I can shoot clover leafs at 50 yard as my zero and 1 inch groups at 100 using their BDC charts. Only thing I wish they had was a lighted reticle

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 2nd time a charm? I bought this scope with the thought that since it is a name brand, much success in the field of optics has come its way. However, when I used their product, I had to return the first one because the crosshairs did not adjust when either of adjustment dials were turned. After the salesman I bought it from looked at it so as to confirm my reason for the return, Dick's Sporting Good's replaced it on the spot. My second scope adjusts, but spiratically. Approximately a third of normal movement every fourth or fifth click, with the first three or four clicks doing nothing. I was able to get it sighted in, but probably wont buy a Nikon again. With the excellent treatment that I received at Dick's I will probably be a regular customer there. If only Nikon were as good at making products as Dicks is at serving their customers.
