Rated 4 out of 5 by from It has its good and bad qualities Bought this for my 10 year old for her first "nicer" big kid bike. Couple of things: 1. The bike itself uses well built good quality parts for a starter bike. Frame, seat, front and rear derailleur, tires, shocks, etc. 2. The tires are slightly too big for the frame and when making sharp turns, will run into your feet because the pedals stretch out close to the tires. 3. I hate the shifters on these youth bikes but they are pretty standard, even on the better Trek youth bikes. They work, just a bad design. Its easy to accidentally shift when grabbing the handles when going up hills and standing to pump the pedals. 4. You're going to need to take it somewhere and get EVERYTHING tuned up. They took the bike out of the box and the manager put it together in front of us but he neglected to thoroughly tighten and align almost everything. I took it to the Trek store close to me and they tightened everything to spec, tuned the brakes, fit her to the correct seat height (which they said they did but we way off) and ran through all the gears to make sure they changed properly. Those guys at Dicks (at least in my area) just don't know enough about most of the equipment they sell. All in all, so far its been a robust bike and fine for the money but if I had it to do over again I'd spend the extra $25-$50 and get Trek Youth bike and get all the perks that come with the name and bike store treatment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great bike for our second grader We went to look at bikes for my seven year old daughter. She is very tall and the salesperson insisted that the 24" bike was the right size. I was doubtful - while she's tall, she's really wispy and I thought such a big bike would be overkill. It's perfect. She was fearful to learn but mastered it with this bike in about 45 minutes. The gears make for a bike that will last her several years. It's pedal action is smooth and the bike overall is substantial, without being too heavy. One note - the gears prevent it from properly fitting training wheels. This was extra motivation in our house but something we didn't notice until we got it home.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Can't beat the value I bought this bike for my nine year old right before out camping trip. This is her first multi gear bike. She is an avid bike rider. She was a bit nervous about the transition from foot brakes to hand brakes. The bike is a bit heavy and lacks a kickstand; these are our only complaints. My daughters bike stacks up the Diamondback which is twice the price; her friend who went camp with us has a Diamondback. She took to the bike nicely and loves it. The shifter is a bit tight but I imagine it will loosen up with use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Average Bike Not much of a difference between a $80 Walmart bike and this one. Day 1 and gears would constantly make annoying sound (other than the 3rd), the front and the back tires are slightly misaligned (not in straight line when you look from the back), and the front tire always touches my kids shoes during basic turns (this is more of a frame issue). Dicks says once the bike is out of store we have to pay for any adjustment, and that it is customer's responsibility to ensure that bikes are thoroughly checked before they are bought :) Very disappointing customer service. Will probably visit my local bike store get things fixed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bike! We bought this bike for our daughter's 9th birthday. It was the first bike she ever picked out and she had to have blue! We looked all over. She loved this one from first sight-neon yellow detailing was the icing on the bday cake! She's been riding it every chance she gets. I am very happy with the service at Dick's. The man who prepared the bike for us went through inspecting and tightening every part of the bike before he handed it over to us. It is very user friendly and sturdy. I think she will get many years of enjoyment from it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Daughter is very happy My daughter picked this bike out for its style and color. We looked at many bikes and this one seemed to be well constructed and had a little bit more than your normal bike from Walmart or Target. She stated that the seat is comfortable and she liked the heavier duty tires. The seat itself was very easy to adjust between others who wanted to ride the bike. The only thing I didn't like is that it had no kickstand and having to buy one separately makes it look at bit out of place.
