Not Bad

The Nishiki 24in Colorado has Modern MTB frame Geometry. The bike profile has a balanced smooth sleek appearance that you usually don't see in bikes of this price range. The front suspension coil spring fork is heavy but works well. It can be upgraded to a lighter air spring fork. The 7 speed components with a rapid fire shifter works well and what is expected at this price range. An 8 speed would have been better but cost more. The wheel rims are double wall aluminum which means they can be converted to "Tubeless" making them almost flat proof. The wheel bearings are the old "cup and cone" standard. I had to adjust the bearing preload on both wheels to get them to spin freely with little to no resistance. My 9 year old Granddaughter's first ride on the bike coming off an old lead sled bike was impressive for her.

Good Bike, But Seat Lowering And Water Bottle Holder Placement Could Be Better

I bought this bike and immediately had to return it (5 minutes later) after I learned the seat would not lower when I tried to load it into my car which ruined the whole reason I bought the bike. The seat was going to be too high for my daughters even though it was setup to lower (bad design). The staff was extremely helpful and gave me a full refund. I did end up buying 2 bikes of the Boy/Girl versions which is a very similar bike to the Youth and have worked great for both my daughters. However, the lowering of the seat Boy/Girl version is much easier than it is on this Youth bike. After doing some research and talking to a couple of Dick's employee the seat does lower if you take out the water bottle holder screws, but you lose the water bottle holder. There is 2 water bottle spots on this bike but the other one is too high and would only hold a very small bottle. Long story short the water bottle holder spots in my opinion are a design flaw. I would recommend the Boy/Girl Version of this bike over the Youth version. Also it is hard to tell online but the gear shifting is different on the Youth version compared to the Boy/Girl Version. Still a great bike but the whole seat lowering/water bottle holder placement is an issue.

Nice Bike

We bought this for our 9 year old son. Over all a very nice quality bike. One thing we will probably replace is the seat. It’s very hard and will not lower enough for him. But still an easy fix.
