Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sometimes change isn't good Don't fix what isn't broken. This was THE quintessential travel bag for explorers, but with the changed, it is not very convenient to carry, and will lose that status. You don't need to breathe new life into everything, please, before too many people move to other brands, bring back the carry handles. It may work on smaller bags not to have the handles, but I have no idea how you would carry move this thing around with 50 pounds of camping gear without carry straps. The previous versions were literally perfect, with grap handles on the longer end for short moves from car to ground, and carry straps for longer walking moves. I definitely won't be trusting the shoulder straps to do that. I will return this and rely on my old XL base camp duffel and an army duffel until they realize their mistaken and change it back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Bag But... These bags are awesome and hold up to a lot of abuse, but getting rid of the "grab handles" makes them hard to manuver. I assume that North Face did away with the handles because of all the straps at the top of the bag which you had to work you way through to get the bag open. Much more combursome on the smaller bags than the larger bags. I think North Face should come back with the "grab handles" and make the backpack straps totally removable and if not completely removable at least removable on one end with clips!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Professional Ecuador Guide North Face - this bag was perfect the way it was. You should not have redesigned it. I have five of these bags, am a professional tour guide in Ecuador and recommend this bag in my Ecuador Travel Tips, but now I will do so with the caveat that it will be harder to carry, move around without the grips it used to have. You, North Face, disappoint me. You do not have to change things just for marketing purposes to give your marketing/design people a reason for their jobs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from New Model is Ruined The North Face ruined this bag. They removed the carrying handles. (Compare with pictures of the old models.) Supposedly you can use the shoulder straps as handles, but they don't work. First, the padding is off center and awkward to grip, and, second, the bag sags badly in the middle when you try because the shoulder straps are attached to the ends. Basically, they removed the handles from all their base camp duffel bags. The only worse idea I can think of is removing the zippers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product! I use this do my snowmobile gear, I needed a bag big enough to fit everything easily inside. I have only been using it for a month so I can't give a lot of input on the durability, but it is backed by North Face's lifetime warranty, so I'm not too worried. I would like to see a few more small pockets for smaller random things I don't want floating around in the main compartment, and a single shoulder strap so you can choose to carry on your back or over the shoulder. Overall it works great and I haven't found anything that compares! Thanks North Face!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Xray version makes finding your stuff easy! I ordered this bag as its perfect for trips overseas or weekend get aways with it thrown in the back of the truck and exposed to elements. I got the xray color so I could find my packed times quicker. I can just look at the outside and know exactly where I packed my compass, sunglasses or caribiners. I used to struggle with caverness bags and losing small items but no longer. I can also skip the TSA security as they can see what I packed. I highly recommend this bag to any frequent traveler. It's a kick butt water proof/resistant duffle that hold a ton of gear with flexible options to carry from back pack to duffle straps. The xray color is unique and easy to find in a pile of other bags.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from "What the What?" This was featured in a movie, with the main character of Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, prominently carrying a bag of this version, and yet the company thought it was a good idea to change it up? What are they thinking?
