I like the full padded back for use with a fishing kayak, it offers a little more cushion and warmth for the cold wet days. Very comfortable and adjustable for most body types. The plier slot is good but it needs a tip protector or you snag things on the plier tips. Simple fix is to stuff the original plier pouch into the slot and boom, good to go! Got the grey one in L/XL and I'm 6'2" 200 lbs, perfect fit, super stoked on this PFD!

Was comfortable to wear for 5+ hour trips on a kayak. It was still easy to move freely and didn't cause any restrictions when fishing or paddling. The only thing I would change is the tabs to attach lanyards and leashes to. It can be difficult to attach to them as the holes are pretty small. Overall I am happy with my purchase and think it will serve me well for a long time.

Thin Back, New Design, Comfortable And Built Well!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After looking into multiple other brands as well as the super popular NRS Chinook, I came across their brand new Raku model. It’s thin backed instead of the traditional high pillow back cushion that may interfere with the very high back seats on some kayaks such as the Hobie Pro Angler series. Overall the quality is superb, fit is great, and the added pockets make keeping my phone, keys, and wallet secure while I’m on the water. I went with the high vis orange due to me being a kayak fisherman and it really stands out while I’m on the water to other boaters. NRS makes a quality product and one you can count on with your life in this case. The difference in the sizing is purely based on the length of the straps. Their is no added flotation or change in the padding. I have a 38” chest and the XS-M fits great.

Nrs Raku Vs. Chinook

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the new Chinook and Raku from NRS because I couldn't figure out which one would work/fit me for kayak fishing. After having both on for an hour each, I went with the Raku! The main reason I went with the Raku over the Chinook is that the Chinook high foam back felt like someone was pressing down on my shoulders constantly. The pressure isn't hard, but I could feel that if I wore it out on the water all day, it would kill my upper back and shoulders. It also felt restrictive while overhead casting compared to the Raku. The Raku has a form fitting back with a thin foam layer, with a little mesh venting. While it might be a little hotter than the Chinook's full mesh back, I was willing to opt for all day wear comfort. The Raku has the same fishing pocket configuration as the Chinook so they are a wash in that regard. If the Raku had a little more mesh in the back, it would be perfect and I would give it 5 stars.
