Enjoying My Canoe

I had been looking for a watercraft that I could carry on rood rack and be able to load it by myself. I also have a dog I like to fish and would always welcome a friend to join in any outing. Thought and looked at Kayaks Paddle Boards and Jon boats as well as canoes. In my research I noticed Dicks carried these products.so I drove to my local Dicks Sporting Goods looked at what they had and choose the Old Town Saranac 146 DLX. I love the seat backs and storage along with the fishing pole holders, I can load and load from vehicle myself and the Dog seems to enjoy the ride.

Very Stable!

We've had this for a month or so and taken our 2 kids (33 and 38!lbs), 70 lb lab, and 2 adults out several times. Even with boats passing, a dog moving, and kids trying to reach the water it is very stable. The decals peel off though.

I was kind of leary when I bout because I had never been canoeing before. But to my surprise I actually loved it, the seats are comfortable and it was actually not that bad to maneuver.

Like the other person’s review, Canoe seems like a good one; but very disappointed in the care or lack there of @ Dick’s. Bought it on sale for Christmas and traveled far; didn’t want to go home empty handed- all the stores within 100 miles were out of stock. I know it will get wear and tear, but didn’t expect so much when buying new.

Great Canoe But Poor Care For Their Products

I was very excited to try this canoe out and drove over 2 hours to pick this up. First I would like to say that this is an amazing canoe with lot of space and accessories! My complaint is with the store’s staff who handle the product. The boat I chose was “the best in shape” compared to the other ones in stock and it was still scuffed, scraped, and some of the logos were torn. Just really sad to see an amazing product get treated like it did at the store. I strongly advise looking at the boat before purchasing!

A Stable And Comfy Ride With Plenty Of Storage.

This is my 3rd Old Towne, 2nd canoe. My 1st boat was a canoe (27 years ago, my mother got it for my 18th birthday) and getting back in one with such better features than an average paddle boat has been wonderful. My daughter and I enjoy kayak picnics and now that she old (5), we needed more space, more stability for 2, and with me being 45, a back rest was a must. The center storage works well to hold pressure for my feet as I paddle, just like a kayak but better, I'm 5'10. It's a heavy 79lbs picking it up by myself and pulling it up the steep 12ft river bank that we exited today, yet fully worth it due to the roomy interior and ample storage space over any of our kayaks. I suggest you get one or 2 and a few kayaks ;)

Great Canoe

I purchased it 2 weeks ago and picked it up at the Dicks Naple FL store. it was in perfect condition The staff helped me put it on my mini van. The Old Town Canoe was a fair price the product. I tried it out using my friends pattles as I am still waiting for the ones I purchased from Dicks to arrive. I was told it was delayed because of the storm and bad weather in more that half the country. No one at dicks notified me and I even paid for express shipping. Spent a bit of time trying to track down what was going on. and finally spoke to a woman in customer support. who was very nice and very professional. I was refunded the money paid for the express shipping. a week and a half latter I am still waiting for the pattles.

Seats are compfy and it handles the lake just fine. Today was the first day we put it on water.
