Shoe laces are almost string. They have elastic bands in place to probably keep the shoe in the correct shape during shipping, you can see they are tied off in the photo's. I thought those were the laces to begin with and was about to start a return process until I found the actual laces in the box. It takes a steady hand and good eye sight to get the laces in the bottom loops which are completely flat and difficult to open. The laces are also very thin and hard, makes tying your shoes painful as they can cut into your hand. Back of shoe heel is low. I can slip out of them without much effort. Narrow body, to begin with they were squishing my feet, but loosened up after probably a week. I think I expected too much give from the soles. With the wave/ruffle like design, I expected them to have some give, not so much. Im 6FT 265lbs. I probably would not buy these again. Biggest gripe the laces and extra stiff soles even after break in.
