Great Attempt; Sad Experience

I'm a bit disappointing by the the new On Cloud X 5. To their credit, On finally wised up and got rid of the aesthetically abhorrent star lacing. Additionally, this model is more comfortable than my other Cloud X's (but admittedly I stopped buying them after the X 2 due to the lacing). However, On decided this model needed an increase in the height of the outsole so the sneaker has lost any sleekness it previously held. Additionally, the fabric they used on the upper is so tight it's crushing the nail on my big toe. Mind you, I have owned at least, 7-8 pairs of Cloud X's. I have three unworn pairs waiting in my closet. All size 9. I love the shoe. This model? Too small. I had to stuff a sock into the toebox overnight to stretch the material. I'm crossing my fingers my toes survive the day. I'm a personal trainer so I'm in the gym, on my feet all day. My client's ask me for footwear recs all the time. Whatever you do, do not buy these without trying them on first. Rant over
