A Great Upgrade From The Original Koda
I used the first generation Koda for 3 years before deciding to upgrade to the Koda 2, and I'm glad I did. Wider space, better heat distribution, ease of controls access (on the side now) and the increase stone thickness all make for better cooks without a lot less hassle. On my first gen unit, I was never able to get heat low enough with standard dial settings to prevent quick burning, and was forced to move the dial towards the shut off position to pinch the valve closed more than the normal settings allowed. Now, I have way better control of both flame strength and pizza to flame proximity (even though the unit overall is shorter, the stone is still a larger square, and thicker as well). While I do still alter the temp for cooking vs heating, having the controls on the side makes the process much easier than reaching behind the unit. Once it comes to temp, perfectly capable of handling quick turn around on bakes. I can see why some would want to upgrade to a larger unit to make larger pizzas, but this one is more than enough for me.

Great Starter Oven
Love it , I started making the same week it got it. makes great pizza, you just have to learn how hat temp works best for your cooking. Only one regret :)I I should have gotten the Ooni Koda 2 Pro for more space. You are going to love it, so spend the extra $$

Perfect Size! Super Easy To Use!
I've cooked many pizzas in the Karu 16 woodfire, the Frya 12 pellet oven, and the Koda 16. The new Koda 2 is my favorite so far. It's big enough to cook pizzas for my family of five but still small and light enough to easily transport. I leave it running for over an hour and casually launch pizzas throughout family pizza/movie night. Pizzas taste great! The upgraded taper flame cooks the pizza evenly every time.
