Product Features

Weighing in at just 18 lbs., the Lake assembles in minutes without any tools or experience. It's our most accessibly priced model ever - but nothing about it is cheap. Made from the same ultra-durable materials as our expedition models, the Lake boasts a clean and minimal design.
  • Folds from box to boat in 3-5 minutes
  • Upgraded Lake with adjustable footrest and backrest
  • Weighs just 18 lbs. - less than half the weight of a traditional kayak
  • Stash it pretty much anywhere: your trunk, closet, boat, garage, van, even under your bed
  • Made of 5mm double-layered custom-extruded polypropylene
  • Manufacturer-rated for 20,000 fold cycles
  • 10-year UV treatment
Note: The Inlet is NOT compatible with the Oru Pack

Product Care

We recommend treating your Oru Kayak as you would a fiberglass, wood, or skin-on-frame kayak. Here are some guidelines:
  • Avoid unnecessary dragging or bumping - use the carry handles to lift, instead of tugging it behind you
  • Store out of direct sunlight - our boats have a 10-year UV treatment, but we still recommend sheltered storage
  • Rinse the kayak thoroughly with fresh water after each use - sediment and salt that dry to the surface of the boat can be abrasive over time
  • Oru kayaks are designed to be easily repairable if anything should wear out over time. Oru repairs team is happy to help! Just shoot us an email to service@orukayak.com with a brief description of your issue, a photo, and your Hull Identification Number to get the ball rolling

Honestly Pretty Amazing

I got tired of my inflatable kayak (too heavy, too much effort to get out on the water) and decided to upgrade to this foldable. It is lighter than expected, so I can haul it around with no problem, even folded out, and I’m a fairly petite woman. Now I can get out on the water fast and without much effort, though unfolding it for the first time took a while to figure out. By the second time, it was easy. Now I just need to figure out how to be more graceful getting in and out of it on the dock!

Newfound Freedom To Kayak!

I have used this twice now on a slow moving river, and it's perfect. I'm grateful for both the instructions and the video (but note: the video isn't for the Lake Sport). I recommend setting it up indoors first, just to get the hang of it. I'm glad I spent a little more for the Lake Sport to get the footrest and the better seat. I also recommend the bundle, which came with a shoulder strap, paddle, and dry bag, and they had a deal with a free PFD too (which is a nice one). The whole thing is easy to carry (at least for short distances) and fits snugly into the trunk of my hatchback.

Oru Lake Sport Review

Overall the Lake Sport is practical and convenient. Easy to assemble and use. Areas that can be improved upon are as follows: 1. The kayac seat back support seems a bit weak, and does not provide sturdy support. 2. The 4 main points where multiple folds intersect at the bottom of the boat makes direct contact with the ground, which can cause pre-mature wear and tear. We need to be careful when placing the boat on the ground for this reason. 3. When on the water, the boat tends to easily move off-center with each stoke of the paddle. Easy tendancy for the boat to oscillated back and forth across the center line when moving through the water. 4. The boat skegg (skag) seems too small to make any real difference in keeping the boat moving in a straight line. 5. When collapsing the boat to be transported, there tends to be a large gap in closing the 2 halves of the boat, especially if the kayac seat is included inside the boat when it is folded together.

Great Very Portable Kayak

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was skeptical about buying a foldable kayak. I wanted something I could put in the car to go spur of the moment without worrying about putting a rack on the car roof. This works very well and fits in my Subaru Impreza with room to spare.
