Bite Valve Leaks

Love my Osprey packs, but the bite valves leak on the hydration packs.

Poor Quality

Osprey seems to be going the way of most other gear companies: let's change things just for the sake of changing them, even if the old design was superior. The bite valve on my Hydraulics LT bladder developed a split and subsequent leak after less than a year of intermittent use. Super poor quality relative to the 2014 model Atmos 50 that I thru hiked the AT with years ago. Stop changing things just because!

Same Issue As Everyone Else - Leaks

Same issue as a lot of others, had it about three weeks and it worked fine. Then it started leaking. After a 10 mile run, I am soaking wet, which is fine in the summer when it's hot but once autumn came around, don't like being freezing cold. Returned the whole pack and bought a different brand.

Quick And Easy Replacement

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got 2 new Bite Valve. they came in a couple days. replacing them was very easy. I no longer have a dripping valve down the front of my shirt

Leaks!

As most other reviewers here, this thing takes two hands to use and if you don't twist close it leaks everywhere. Very poor design for active use.

Old Valve Was Better!!!

The old style valve was great; I could get drinks hands free by just leaning my head forward while riding my bike. This twist style requires 2 hands so I have to stop and get off my bike to get a drink. Worse, it is the valve that comes on the kids pack too. My little guy can't even twist it to get a drink without help.

Glad To Know I'm Not The Only One

I came here to finally replace my super leaky valve that's gotten my leg, seat, anything wet any time I forget to close it. I'm (not so) glad to hear I'm not the only one who's had this problem. Please please please find and implement a better design!

Changed Design, Unusable Now For Real World Applications

I mountain bike and I loved how the old valve could be used hands free anytime while riding. Well apparently no one bothered to look at who their primary market is for the smaller hydration packs. This new design requires me to stop biking and twist the valve open in order to use. Also if you don't close it fully water will just completely leak out of the valve. This is a complete design failure and Osprey should fire their QA team.

The Previous Design Was Way Better!

Wow, this is a step back in design. The previous bite valve could be opened or closed with one hand and this one takes two hands. Not only that but it leaks even though it's not even 3 months old. And the previous bite valve had the magnet built in and now you have to buy that separately!. I've had my Osprey Hydration pack for 7 years and still rocks but when I had to replace my bite valve I was really disappointed at the new design and thinking I may be going back to Camelbak!

Valve Leaks Everywhere

Bite valve leaks everywhere. Started to notice it my second time out and it's only gotten worse from there. My left leg is covered with water by the time I'm done with my ride. As fantastic as the pack is, this valve is bad.

Poor Quality Bite Valve

Hello, I have a top o the line raptor pack for MTB , and in my first few months of ownership I have had to purchase several new bites that release the liquid from the bite tube. The first one I figured I was subconsciously biting too hard. But, now im on number 4 so now im thinking its not me. My bite keeps getting a whole in it then of course it leaks everywhere when I ride unless I de-pressurize it by blowing the liquid back into the pack type thing....not sure if there is a remedy or a different style bite? Its dissapointing that the high quality of the pack is diminished by a cheap bite......Osprey needs to make good on this. Too many people retrofitting camel back part for a home remedy......Poor

Bite Valve Leaks After A Few Months Of Use

I've gone through four now. They leak after a month or two of regular use (biking).

Replacement Bite Valve Does Not Fit Hose!

I loved my Osprey Raptor until now-- will not buy Osprey again. I had to buy two items to replace my original magnetic bite valve, only to find that the valve bib is now smaller and won't fit the Raptor hose size-- at least the one that came with mine a few years back. Seriously, no replacement parts available for older model? I am not spending $$$ on an entire new hydration bladder because Osprey changed the hose size, and dropped support for the old one. Ridiculous.

Reservoir Is Good But Bite Valves Aren't

locking and unlocking valve needs improvement, silicon part of bite valve easily bitten through

Love The Pack - The Bite Valve Failed On The First Outing

I love the pack but the bite valve ripped on my very first trip. Poor material choice.
