I can’t quite figure out how to slip this onto the tube without unscrewing the valve that is sealed

It covers the valve just fine and I don’t have to worry of it getting dirty.

This cover should be used to keep your bite valve from getting dirty (i.e., when you set your pack down)...not to prevent leakage from the tube, as that is what the bite valve's twist shut-off is for. A lot of rage for misusing a 3 dollar piece of plastic.
This should come packaged with all the reservoirs they sell. It's essential, yet I'm paying extra. Why?

I switched to the osprey water bladder system. As guide who does week long treks in the Andes, Yosemite, and others, this bite valve cover is horribly frustrating it doesn't audibly snap it's very very loose. It can come off on a steep climb down and up leaving my water leaking when I can't afford to lose water. DESIGN TEAM FIX THIS!

Replacing the bite valve and the magnet that was on it was the first thing I did when I got my Mira. Honestly, I don't mind the design. What I DO mind is how this cover always manages to pop off on its own. It doesn't even really protect the bite valve, stuff still will get in there. The reservoir itself is absolutely amazing, especially with the insulation kit, but the valve system and magnet are seriously weak links.

I would like to have been included with the reservoir. Ask Camelbak, they'll tell you how to do it.

Saw this while shopping and was happily surprised. Had my Hydraulics for a couple years and my only complain was that there was no valve cover. That being said, I'm a bit-e (see what I did there) disappointed with this product; it seems like the handle is made backwards (?!), it keeps falling off and doesnt really protect from dust, sand, etc.... Too bad, such a missed opportunity :(

The bite valve cover does not @snap"" in- worthless.

The cover helps keep the valve clean but it is so bulky and sits too loosely.

The phrase “You only had one job...” comes to mind. The cap’s only job is to fit on the bite valve — snugly. And it couldn’t even accomplish that. Yes, I have the Osprey Bite Valve this cap is designed for. It barely stays on and any slight movements will knock it off. Why did they make the cap so big? Why couldn’t they have shrunk it slightly to fit their own bite valve? How did they mess this up? The valve is rubber so it should be relatively easy to make it fit snugly, as rubber bends, molds, and grips with pressure. I wanted to like it, as I like Osprey products, but how did this cap get approved? I’ll never understand... I keep it anyways since it’s better than having no cap at all. But wow, I don’t understand how they messed this one up.

Agree with most reviews that this should NOT be an accessory but included in the hydration pack. Bite valve cover is table stakes not a value add! To add insult to injury the hose magnet kit is another accessory you have to buy separately for the Atmos 50. Not the sort of petty stuff you would expect to deal with when buying a high end backpack! I have the 2.5 L hydration pack that came with my Scarab backpack and bought this to cover the bite valve. Later on I purchase an Atmos 50 which has the pouch for the hydration pack inside the backpack. There is an opening in the back through which the bite valve and tube must be routed outside the backpack. Well the bite valve can be fits through the hole but the cover does not. So every time you need to place the hydration pack inside the backpack you have to remove the bite valve to remove the cover! The only other option is to apply the cover while not having it secured to the hose and then you risk the cover falling off and losing it which is super easy to do because the cover does not attach to the bite valve to begin with as many have noted here! Osprey backpack, Osprey hydration pack, Osprey accessory ... and they don't work together! It's obvious someone did a lousy job at designing these things ... and you're expected to pay extra for them because they don't come with the original product. I would be embarrassed to put such a poorly designed solution on the market.

Everyone wants this to be included with the bladder and maybe it should. Personally I would pay 5 times the cost of this crazy thing if it just worked. Unbelievably it just sort of sits over the bite valve....there is no reassuring 'snap' when you put it on. How can that be? What's the point of designing something like this and not having it snap on to the valve? It regularly falls off during usage and there's definitely no air tight protection from trail dust getting in. Does Osprey road test these things? It's so obviously a huge fail. Not good.
Osprey, you can do better than this. All the reviews on here are accurate. Why are we paying more to keep our mouths clean? But... my main complaint is not even that. On top of having to purchase this necessary item separately, the darn thing does not even stay on. All buyers definitely should heed this morning. It kept falling off the tube, therefore did not keep the mouth peace covered whatsoever. I eventually just lost it on the trail. Definitely not buying another one! This is really strange, considering Osprey normally puts out super high-quality stuff that I assumed was field-tested? When you buy this product and take it out of the box, you will notice the means by which it holds onto the tube, and this will show you why it falls off. Anyone using this will definitely notice it's lack of good engineering.
