I wear this at work mostly in the spring and fall and it holds up great. I usually wear a medium but the small fits great in this instance. It keeps you warm even when wet and is great for an underlayer while hiking.

Great Everyday Base Layer

Merino wool is all you need for a base. It wicks sweat, doesn't stink, and washes up great. You can wear it 24/7 for a week before you need to wash it. It pairs really well with a Vigor Grid Fleece. 6"1" / 180lb and a size large fits great

After being used in the field for multiple iterations of training, this base layer stood up to the test during the winter and early spring months. The only facet about this product that was slightly cumbersome was the way in which wool must be washed and dried compared to other fabrics. However, that process comes with the territory when you choose wool. All in this is a fantastic product that has served me well.

Good Fit - Itchy Material

First of all - I like the fit (not super tight like most merino base layers), warmth and look of this shirt. It is definitely quite functional. It does have a huge drawback compared to other similar products - it is significantly itchy/rough compared to other technical merino wool players. I have another comparable base layer that is much softer and cheaper at the cost of durability and looks.

Kind Of Rough

I purchased the blue camo pattern and it does not feel soft against your skin. I order a couple of their merino wool T shirts too, same issue. I will look other places to purchase merino wool shirts.

Very comfortable and sized appropriately. The color is exactly as shown. A tee shirt like weight to the material that dries quickly.

Awkward Fit

My first impression when I put the shirt on was 'is this backwards?" The collar feels just a little too tight around the neck. Everything else about the shirt fits well, so I don't think it's a size issue. After wearing it for a while it gets comfortable and you forget about the neck issue. The fit isn't a deal breaker, but I don't plan on buying another.

Clutch

Perfect underlayer in cool and cold environments, especially when sweating is a concern. It maintains enough heat to keep you warm, yet wicks moisture, breathes, and dries quicky. Clutch piece of gear for shoulder season canoe trips in the back country. Same for the merino 150 bottoms and hoodie.

Everyday Wear.. Even At The Pub

The Outdoor Research Men's Alpine Onset Merino 150 Crew is my go-to base layer for any hiking saga. Surprisingly stylish enough to rock at the pub post-adventure, this gem has seen me through a full fall and winter of trail tromping, and it's safe to say it's become a bit of a favorite. After much gear-geeking and side-by-side comparisons, I can firmly say it's a standout. This shirt not only insulates like a champ under pressure (read: those chilly mountain gusts), but it also handles the "sweaty ascent scenario" with aplomb. You know, when you're hustling up a steep incline and generating enough heat to power a small village? This crew keeps you from turning into an ice cube when you pause to take in the view. I've got a closet full of other contenders-plenty of them crafted from the beloved merino wool-but time and again, I find myself reaching for this one. It just gets it right: warmth, breathability, and less of that post-hike tavern smell. If you're looking for a base layer that won't let you down (and won't embarrass you at a casual hangout after), give this one a shot.

Love this base layer. Fits true to size, 5'11, 175, size M.

One Of My Pnw Favorites

I have used this for a full fall/winter hiking season. After much thought and a lot of comparisons, this is worth looking at. It pulls my sweat to the surface when it's my only top I have on, and I just wipe it away. It Insulates really well when used as a base layer and doesn't leave me feeling cold when I've been sweating on my ascent. I have other many other competitors in this class, and their good. But I found myself choosing this over a lot of choices made primarily of merino wool too. I would recommend this to anyone.
