The Alti II mitts are built for serious warmth, and they deliver—hands stay toasty even in the coldest conditions. The oversized cuff adds extra protection against snow and wind, but it’s bulky enough to feel clumsy when handling gear or skiing at the resort. These mitts shine more in static situations—like sitting around camp in frigid weather—than for active resort days where dexterity matters. If maximum warmth is the goal, they’re hard to beat. Just know they trade fine motor control for comfort and protection.

I used these ice fishing in -30F temps and times when windchill would exceed that. Its hard to find good gloves that can stand up to the cold and water but these have. The mitten style makes them better for warming up your hands or wearing them when treaking across the lake. They are farly stiff so grabbing stuff is hard besides handle bars which even tires after a little. The removeable linear was nice as I could wear the shell over a wool fingerless glove to keep the wind off my hands and still be able to take them off quick to do fine motor tasks

I have Reynaud’s and can never keep my hands warm. These mittens aren’t perfect, I still get cold fingers, but they are the best I’ve had in a very long time. The inner mittens are great on their own. I use them primarily for running, but they would be great for skiing and other winter activities. I liked them so much I bought a second pair. They’re big and a bit bulky, but they’re warm, well made. I have been wearing the inner mittens in warmer temps using trekking poles. I haven’t used them enough to know how well they will stand up to this use.

I've always been a mittens person more than standard gloves, they are just warmer to me. These are solid mittens as you'd expect from Outdoor Research. The Velcro that holds the inner lining to the glove is a bit finnicky. If you don't have it attached firmly and well positioned the loop ends can give you a bit of a scratch. Other than that, no complaints here, good gloves to use in the winter.
