This makes an exceptional jacket for fall, winter, and early spring travel. Packable if you start getting overheated on subway trains, insulating in chilly wind, and those two inside pockets are a huge feature for travel....passport, money holder, etc. fit nicely in a more secure location when traveling. OR is always quality and I have used their goods for fifteen years in travel.

I was looking for durability in a down coat. I stand around in cold temps for long periods of time. I researched the warmest thing out there, and in my price range this is what kept popping up. It’s like hanging out wearing a sleeping bag and I use it for a pillow when I finally do land in my bag. The only thing I am surprised hasn’t been invented yet is a down coat you can wear around a campfire that you don’t have to worry will get an ember puncture. You basically have to wear an outer layer over your coat if you are really serious about preventing ember damage, and this coat is pretty thick! So I haven’t figured that out yet, but I have been careful! Love this coat. Been cozy up to -15F so far.

Used in a recent trip to Mongolia where temps were between 0F and 30F. Packed well in my carryon backpack. When active all I needed was a tshirt underneath the jacket and was warm but not sweaty. When stagnant, tshirt and sweater was enough. inside pockets held chunky gloves well and the drawstring hood kept the hood up in 25mph wind gusts.

Exceptionally warm, and packed small. Purposes bought for a trip hiking glaciers in AK and it got the job done.

Very light weight. Packing compressed it a lot and it took a couple days for it to expand out. My first time wearing it was in 30 degrees and it kept me very warm. I am 5'6" and a large was a good fit for me, especially for arm length. I am a little concerned about longevity because of how light weight it is, but time will tell on that. Material and stitching are top notch and the jacket is very comfortable to wear. I HATE the feeling of gortex and this has more of silky feel inside and out, which is perfect. For a general use winter jacket this is perfect.

This coat is so light, yet is always the perfect temperature from -5C to -35C you just feel cozy.

All the features are fantastic, long-term durability is not - maybe thats why its called a hoodie? I am into year 4 and the material has completely blown apart, not just at the seams but literally all the material. I used this daily and worked it pretty hard here in Northern BC. Overall, pretty happy with it, just wish it lasted longer!

Just bought this jacket and it is AWESOME! Great warmth and wind resistance.

Extremely warm and comfortable. Used it hiking and backpacking in Alaska with no problems. Also looks good enough to use during cold days where you just want to wear 1 layer.

Lightweight and high loft. Finally got to test it in some 20 degree weather with moderate (25mph) winds - very warm!

Have had this for a year. It's a really good coat and has kept me comfortable for hours outside in downtown Toronto in 10F wind chill. Only issue is the hood; it has no snaps / velcro to secure the neck area, so when you are facing the wind, the hood will inflate like a balloon as it scoops up the wind. I got a strap that I put around my neck that holds it shut.

Love the coat. At 5'11" 148 lbs the small is great and has room to layer. Only complaint is the cuff. My wife got the same coat and the cuffs on the women's coat are different and far superior! The men's cuff is a basic elastic ring. The women's has a proper cuff a few inches wide that is elastic and soft fabric. I'm using the coat for casual use and the occasional ski/snowboard day.

The jacket looks fine, fits fine and is comfortable but my score represents its warmth. It’s simply not warm enough and if I could return it I would.

Purchased Black sz Medium. Boxy unflattering fit, gigantic hood has more down than the front panels, heavy, not packable for bc skiing, some details like sleeve cuffs look cheap, OR logo only on the side of the arm so the front is very plain looking. Bought this to replace OR Transcendent Hoody from 2019. Disappointed with all the above and will be returning. Sadly, OR does not make any hoodies that are comparable to the Transcendent.

I would say this jacket is fantastic, but with a few really frustrating exceptions. Pros: the loft and warmth is great, it’s a touch more burly than most down jackets which is nice, the fit is fantastic-that magical sweet spot of being able to layer underneath comfortably without being tight in the arms (a rarity I seldom find these days), and the value at this price is great. The cons: very drafty around the cuffs, and the hood is so lofty and stuffed that it’s always pressing against the back of my head when I’m sitting in the car which drives me crazy. My wife has the women’s version which has both wrist gaiters to keep out drafts and a much better hood-if those issues could be addressed this would be one of my all time favorites
