Wet head
I have one. Nice looking but it is not a very good, functional hat. It is warm though. Too warm for summer. In modest wind the sides flap up and the Velcro on the sides make them stick up so the sides of your head, face and ears get wet. It has a tendency to blow off your head, like a wing. Comically, while the sides blow up, the brim in front has a tendency to flap down onto your face the wind as well. The only reviews that say its a good hat are the professional reviewers who appear to be incentivized. Get a much less expensive cotton boonie hat with snap up sides, get waterproofing wax (something like Otter Wax or just bees wax) waterproof it yourself. You can probably have three better hats this way at the same cost. My hat sits little used.

After much research and checking out many types of hats, my son purchased the same (but older version) 15+ years ago to wear hike on a High Adventure Scout Outing to Philmount. It was waterproof with an SPF of 50 and very light. Snaps on the side came in handy as well as the adjustable size. Now-years later, when I reached out to the company-OR-and asked them about the SPF (I couldn't remember that!) because I now have to protect my face from all sun. We corresponded a few times and were able to do the research to tell me as well as show me the current version which is the Seattle Rain Hat. And after all these years it still looks new. I HIGHLY recommend this company for any product. And I love the Seattle Rain Hat which I will be wearing all summer. https://www.outdoorresearch.com/collections/rain-hats/products/seattle-rain-hat-322290

I've had this for 2 years and while it's ok for short duration in a light drizzle my head gets soaked in anything more than that. It's nothing close to "waterproof" I think it leaks heavily at the front seam. It also does very poorly in any kind of wind. Big fan of most of my OR gear but this piece was unfortunately disappointing, a total bust and waste of money for me.

Nice hat, keeps the sun and rain off. Use for paddling.

This hat is waterproof. The reason for 3 stars is the flimsiness of the brim. While fishing in moderate winds and rain, or tooling around in a 4 hp boat, the front brim flips straight up exposing your face and neck soaking you unless you hold down the brim. This coiuld be a great hat if the brim was sturdier.

I initially bought this hat for kayaking in the southeastern US, and it's great for that regional combination of broiling sun and expected rain. So now, I live in southeast Alaska, and it's perfect for what people call the "Juneau Rain Festival" (1 January - 31 December :) ). It's also great in the chilly weather because I have the older model that has the fold-down fleec ear flaps. Wish they'd bring those back because I sure could use a new one.

I have had this hat for over 14 years and use it primarily for kayaking. When property fitted to my head, it stays on even with rolling and strong headwinds. This IS ONLY go-to hat when I paddle (it is my signature clothing). Unfortunately, after all these years of sunshine, salt, and surf I must retire it and purchase another.
