I was so lucky to get one of the last few items, and it was 60% off. Love the color and the quality. OR never disappoints me :). I hope that they won't discontinue the Sienna Heather color. Please keep this item coming!

I was really impressed by this base layer. It is very thin and see through but very effective at keeping you warm. I wore this multiple days mid-winter as as my single layer under my shell snow pants. Right out of the box it wasn’t as soft to the touch as I anticipated but after wearing it a few times that concern went away and I never thought of it again. I never was itchy like you sometimes are with other wool products. The real highlight of this baselayer is the hood/built in face mask. I kept grabbing this baselayer day after day because of that feature. I love that you can wear the hood up or that you can without it and it’s not super bulky. The face mask was awesome because I’d pull it up on the chairlift and then leave it down while riding. For someone who doesn’t own a face mask and rarely wears one, it was really nice to have that feature built in. The face mask was the perfect fit! I’m absolutely going to buy another one because this is my new go to!

I got this as a warm base layer, but was disappointed to find that the fabric has very little stretch and a very tight neck. It fits well besides the neck which practically chokes me. I do a little sewing, so will find a way to modify it, but it's disappointing to get a new item that's uncomfortable. It is extremely warm and the maroon is a beautiful color. I'm a large/athletic XL (38C cup) for reference.

This fit was quite small. I am the same size in my dozens of other OR shirts but this ran small. Unfortunately, not returnable but I would recommend ordering one size up.

6 months in and this hoodie is my best friend, I seriously wear it everywhere! Skiing, hiking, and the grocery store- often back to back- so thank goodness it doesn't hold smell. The design is so well thought out, (hello pony tail slit!!) and the cut is flattering. It does fit looser than a true base layer, (its easy to fit another layer underneath) but I'm okay with that b/c its not to tight for casual everyday wear. Like other comments mention the material is a little bit scratchy/itchy. But either I've gotten used to it or it's gotten softer b/c I don't even notice it anymore! The fabric isn't sheer/see through at all. I'm 5'10/athletic build & medium was perfect.

I appreciate how the neck and lower face can be fully covered when the hood is up. The material is pretty stiff, however. I am hoping it softens up after the first few washes. Fits on the slightly larger size compared to most medium baselayers I have worn.

I love this hoodie. The shape of the hoodie part is really nice - your eyes are not closed in...keeps your face warm and can be worn under a helmet or hood. Merino wool is warm and not scratchy. Lightweight warmth! Pretty colors!

the wool kept me warm and especially full-coverage balaclava protect from windy icy!

Great fit & color, love the ponytail hole in the hood as well! Shirt is a little itchy and has minor pilling in high rub spots. I do wear this shirt a lot for work so I'm happy with how durable the fabric is with how frequently I wash it. Hardly holds a smell which I love!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Some people have a pretty low tolerance for the scratchy feeling of wool fabrics. This shirt is not for them. I don't tend to mind much and recognize the natural wool fiber feel keeping me warmer - I even love the smell. The color, fit and quality are all great. So unless you have a strong aversion to the feel of wool on your skin then this is a great base layer for cold and unpredictable weather conditions.

I love this base layer for backpacking in the winter. The built in balaclava is great for hiking in the snow and rain and sleeping at night in cold conditions. The wool is super warm as a base layer but also breathe able when wearing it on its own when moving in the sun. Was worried that the hood would be hot and bulky on my neck when not wearing it but I never notice it. At night I wool beanie under the hood and it keeps the beanie in place and provides extra warmth for my ears. Great product. Seams haven't chafed me once. Worn it 8 days at a time without changing every other week for the past 3 months and it hasn't kept its stink after washing.

perfect underlayer for mountain sports -- hood acts as integrated balaclava under helmet, covering chin & cheeks on cold day. wool doesn't get stinky, so perfect for weekends as a ski instructor. I'm sure this will also fit the bill for spring and fall mountain hikes as well. Would love this in a heavier weight for colder days, too. i only regret not buying more colors before it sold out..

I wear this on my morning dog walks in freezing temps and while outside skiing. It helps wick away sweat and keep me warm whether it's downhill or cross country skiing.

I think this may be my favorite base layer top. I recently put it through the ringer on a moose hunt and 5000 ft hike in rainy, windy Southeast Alaska. It is thin so there is no bulk when layering but provided the perfect amount of moisture wicking and warmth. I love the hood with balaclava type neck line as it kept my cheeks from getting wind burnt on skiff rides. I am 5'2, 130lbs and I got a size small and it fit perfect. I am contemplating buying another!
