This product was great for teaching my dog how to swim in the pool. It gave her confidence, but I’m sure you could use it out on the lake or on the boat too great quality made well.

Great Fit
I bought this for my 1 year old dog and took him out kayaking with me. He is a shih tzu and is 18 pounds. This fit him so well and was very comfortable for him. I got him an XS and he still had plenty of room to make it bigger.

Handle Already Ripping
I used this for the first time this weekend, and the top handle is already coming apart from the vest at all four attachment points. We used the handle to lift our dog out of the water a few times, but it certainly should not have put a hole in the vest after such minimal use. I would give it 1 star for quality because of the poor stitching that attaches the handle. The other parts of the vest seem good quality, but the handle is the one of the most important parts to us. Since there is a hole now by the handle, it is unusable. It wasn't even like our dog exceeded the weight requirement. He weighs less than the 30 pound limit of the size small. Unfortunately, I did not keep my receipt and am out $35 for a single use life vest. I usually love Outward Hound products, so I'm hoping my product was just defective. Otherwise, we liked the fit, floatation, and the headrest.

Seems Well Designed, But The Sizing Is Way Off.
I don't know if it's good. Seems well made. But the manufacturers didn't do their homework on the sizing. Irritated because I wanted to use it this weekend, and they didn't deliver what they promised. I know dogs vary in their dimensions, but come on! I bought a large, because my dog measured at the top end of the range, but below what qualified for the XL. The chest band and the chin pad didn't even come CLOSE to fastening. I mean, the Velcro didn't even touch! It was Chris Farley in David Spade's coat. Not only that, but I seriously doubt this size has enough flotation material to keep an 85 lb dog afloat. You've got to be kidding. Take your dog and get him fitted if you can. This company apparently doesn't have it figured out.
