Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little kayak For my first kayak, I didn't want to spend a lot of money. The Pelican Bandit fit the bill for me on a July 4th sale!! It was recommended to me by a very experienced kayaker who said that it tracked great, had a comfortable seat, adequate storage areas and the scupper holes were located in the boat where it doesn't get your seat wet as easily. I had looked at the Blitz, but I didn't like the adjustable foot rests, because it looks like they could break. Also, the little storage area is not water proof and it cost considerably more than the Bandit. So I am very pleased with my little pink Bandit for around $175 (on sale, with tax and with my coupon)!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Entry Level Kayak I was looking for an affordable entry level kayak for a local river by my house. I went with a sit on top style so I could try to bring my dog along with me. This kayak has been great. It is very stable compared to the sit in style kayaks. One thing I didn't realize it had, was holes in the bottom for self bailing. This is a nice added bonus for me. There is a cup folder between your legs that fits a typical sized water bottle and the back of the kayak has plenty of room for storage. No sealed compartments, but that is not a huge deal. I just put a large seal-able container in the storage area on the back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Buy I picked the Bandit and the Stinger from Pelican at local store in EP TX .. on clearance last week ( Boat Sale ) . I have the Bandit - 300 lbs max. Weight - 6 ‘ 225 Perfect fit - she is 5’5 150 with the Stinger - Max weight 250 lbs. .. We went to local Lake for first time today and we are hooked - I made some adjustments on the Bandit seat the second time around and WOW big difference and my back - I can bend my knees - dunk my feet on the sides of Bandit - and paddle away. She loves her Stinger nice and narrow for her taste . I will convert Bandit for fishing to take to NM Lake . Two Thumbs Up for Bandit and Stinger.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great kayak for the price I've bought last year Bandit 100- the precious generation of NXT 100, do not see any difference besides the seat (the back rest is the same they just added a cushin or whatever it si called). That was my first kayak, I am 280pounds, 6'2'' high and i never flipped over, handle me pretty well. Extremly stable, great for beginners, very light, easy to transport. It is not very fast and if U paddle against wind over 5mph is becoming exstremly hard to go straight. Also keep in mind that there is always a little bit of water inside (maybe because of my weight, but no matter if U have plugs in the scapper wholes or not there is always some water inside), if U are puddling in warm wheater is fine. I bought it for 150$ on sale, so overall for that price it is a good begginers kayak, strong material, very stable. I would reccomend it for the price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great choice for recreation My husband and I are just getting started with kayaks. After enjoying an inflatable, we decided to buy a sit-on-top model the would allow our small dog to ride on the bow without squashing our feet underneath his bulk. I'm happy to report the dog loves this little Pelican Bandit, and so do we. The cushioned seat is pretty comfortable, it's relatively light and easy to move, and it steers quite well for what we're looking for--a kayak to enjoy on a fairly calm river, lake or dammed area. If you're a looking for something for casual recreation or occasional fishing with a lifetime warranty, and a sit on top is right for you (as it often is if you're kayaking in warm climates where a little splashing is a good thing!) consider the made-in-Canada Pelican Bandit as a solid low-cost choice.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A cost effective way to get on the water The staff at dicks was great. Very helpful getting this down from display. Taken this out once thus far. Bought as an extra for friends. The shaping and storage capability is well thought out. Even without skupper plugs, I wasn’t totally soaked. And good space for gear, cooler, smaller dog.... It is a very light boat, so it will be pushed/blown by wind if you are idle, especially. Cheaper material won’t last as long, but decent starter yak. Doesn’t track great, but not a terrible fight if you keep paddling evenly. And don’t expect to win any races....on the slow side. Quite stable, though! I’d likely be disappointed if I bought this as my main boat. If you’re looking for a more long term ride, save up and spend another $100 for an upgrade. But all in all, Pelican makes a decent entry level boat to get the masses on calm, recreational waters at a reasonable price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent balance, tracking and styling. 13 miles first trip on it! I purchased this particular kayak after i sold one very similar to it and had instant regret. Tried a few others and got very lucky with this one. I generally kayak for distance 10-20 miles at a time in light current with rocks and some obstacles such as large rocks, small drops etc. This kayak is EXCELLENT in performance. Its easy to keep on track and takes very little effort. Very well balanced, 2 times other riders near me went 'overboard' on their kayaks and i was easily able to navigate and stay stable. I was worried about the light support on the back rest but it proved to be just fine with 4 hours of paddle time. Its a very simple layout and impressive as such. Purchasing the style that have the holes such as this one, seem to make them much more stable. Took on very little water and stayed dry the majority of the time. Seat is slightly raised with adds comfort and keeps you dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect size stable Kayak ! Perfect size stable Kayak ! This model will fit inside my small Honda CRV, so I don't have to mess with external roof top mounts. I did have to add some Handles to help in wrangling the kayak in and out of the car and water. Tried the 8'4" model, it was not stable for the lakes I use, and yawed back and forth. This 10' model is stable and does not yaw. Added some fishing rod holders to convert a regular kayak into a fishing kayak. Gets a bit exciting trying to get the lure out of the fish, especially a large Pike !
