Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good entry-level yak at a great price I sold my 18' Grumman canoe a year ago -- too hard to handle solo since my son left home -- and had been looking at kayaks and Dick's had this at a price that was too good to pass up. I've had it for a couple weeks now and had it out several times with good results. First, it's light weight (only 38 lbs) so it's easy to load on top of an SUV and I've easily carried it a block to the boat ramp. It's very stable to get in and out of .. you just need to brace, especially getting out. The footrests are easy to adjust, the seat is comfortable (though the back rest is a bit low) and the cockpit is roomy. You can brace your knees comfortably on the sides of the cockpit even without any padding. Because it's a short boat, there's some side-to-side wobble but that was minimal once I got my paddle stroke down. You won't win any races, but you can move right along all the same. The included paddle keeper is handy as are the fishing rod holders. I plan to fish more once I install an anchor trolley. I was disappointed in the rear hatch -- it's actually just a small, molded "bowl" with a cover. However, I did some online research and found a number of other Angler owners who cut this out to gain full access to the rear compartment. I used a utility knife to smoothly cut out the bowl and will weatherstrip the hatch cover to make it more water-tight. It didn't affect hull rigidity at all and I will probably add a bit more foam insulation behind the built-in seat for flotation. All-in-all, it's a great little boat and for $229 (on sale) you can't go wrong.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice for the price! Bought this a couple weeks ago. Took it out fishing last weekend. Light and easy to launch, seat back is not the most comfortable but I put that on my bad back, tracking isnt great but not bad. Overall for the price it can't be beat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Starter Fishing Kayak! I caught this on sale and I'm totally happy! I've taken it out fishing in local reservoirs a dozen times (4-6hrs. at a time) since my purchase. It is stable, tracks well, and has the basic essentials for an entry level, sit-in fishing kayak. It is perfect for smaller bodies of water like back rivers, lakes, and reservoirs. It is not designed for large bodies of water that can experience serious chop or waves. I've launched from shore and low docks with no problem. The cockpit is a comfortable size. I'm 6' and 180lbs and I can stretch my legs all the way out or kick back a little. I added some 1" foam pipe insulation to the inner rim of the cockpit, where my knees sometimes rest, for additional comfort. I use a flotation cushion as a backrest and I'm comfortable all day. I asked to sit in it while at the store to see if it was comfortable. At 38 lbs., the kayak is light enough that I can put it on the roof of my SUV and take it down with no problem. Carrying it is a breeze. It has open space in the cockpit on either side of the seat and I put a box with my lures on one side and a couple of bottles of water on the other. I stow my tackle box inside the cockpit and pushed all the way up to the bow. I attached a string to my tackle box, so if I need it I just bend my knees and pull the string to me and then push the tackle box with my foot to put it back. The best feature is the tray at the front of the cockpit. I put my pliers, a few lures, hooks, or whatever on there. I will say that the rear storage compartment with the bungee does not have a rubber gasket but there is a raised lip and nothing has been wet so far (even in the rain). I wasn't thrilled that there are some exposed holes where the bungees go into the kayak. No water has entered, not even with a little bump and splash while on the water. You can grab a pack of eyelets, add them, and cover the holes. Handles on the port and starboard side would be nice. Could it have more features? Sure, but at the price point you really can't go wrong with this kayak! Plus you can DIY for a lot of things if you want. Do yourself a favor and get an folding grapple anchor while you are at Dick's, ask which would be best, you'll be glad you bought one! A breeze, to anything that floats, will move it out of position. You can slip it under the rear or front bungees or in a one of the rod holders for easy access. All in all, this is a great fishing kayak if you are just starting out!
