Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for the River I purchased both the Pelican Trailblazer 80 NXT Kayak and the Pelican Trailblazer 100 NXT. The Pelican Trailblazer 80 NXT does not track on the river. It would be fine for playing around on a calm water surface without any serious destination in mind. I am a 5'7" long, legged, 140 lb., lady. I really can not recommend this kayak even for beginners as it makes Kayaking difficult and uncomfortable. I did not fine it to be leg room comfortable. I have recently used 4 different Kayaks and I really like the Pelican Trailblazer 100 NXT. It is comfortable, tracks well on the river and has many convenient features of the bottle holder, varied foot rest spots, and net under the front to hold cell phone or other small items. I recommend the Pelican Trailblazer 100 NXT for beginners with a destination in mind.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just enough for the price I wanted a beginner kayak. Wasn’t sure I would even like to kayak so I didn’t want to spend a lot. Sure it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of an expensive one but I’m happy I didn’t spend a lot because I’ve onlu had time to go twice in the past month now 1 1/2 hours each time. It’s a cute little thing that gets me where I need to go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect small kayaks. We are older and needed smaller kayaks that we could hoist up to the rack on top of our truck topper. These fit the bill! They are smaller than we had and were used to, so some adjustments needed to be made. Probably too small for someone 6 ft or more. Overall we’re very happy with our purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value, easy to manage I bought this kayak because it was lightweight, which I hoped would help me to manage getting it on my roof rack. While the short boat length seems to result in some fishtailing in the water, I do think the lighter weight and shorter length helps me get out there. It's definitely cheap-and-cheerful, but does the job for a fun kayaking experience. The online price was lower than the in-store price (same for the paddle) but the staff were nice enough to honor the lower price. All in, a good retail experience that I hope will lead to lots of adventures.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a good river kayak This is not a very good river kayak.the hull designe let's makes it drag more than say the sun dolphin 8ft.the lower sides allows water to come into kayak very easy aswell.i wh ui led stay away from this if your doing any river runs.the sun dolphin 8ft is a way better river kayak.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Light weight Lightweight as far as ease of getting it to the lake. Not as stable in the water as my previous kayak. There are better buys out there but with more weight and more money. Would not recommend for a beginner. Had to special order but no one called to let me know it was in.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Kayak I'm a newer kayaker and I was looking for a kayak that would be easy for me to lift on my own, fit in my jeep wrangler (I don't have a roof rack yet), and be able to enjoy the beautiful Seattle summer. This kayak is light at only 34lbs, I can easily move it around myself (5'8" female) and it fits into my jeep wrangler with ease. My only complaints are unfortunately due to its size, the thing I bought it for. When I added additional weight for a camping trip (3 days; all backpacking camping gear), it was riding super low in the water. My friends actually thought I might capsize I was riding so low (I had maybe a total of 190 lbs in the kayak with gear and myself). Additionally, because it is only 8ft, it really doesn't offer much room to store camping gear and it doesn't glide in the water as well as larger kayaks. My friends all had larger pelican kayaks and despite matching their pace, I still couldn't keep up with them. If I had to make the decision over, I would've gone with the 100 instead of the 80. Still a great little kayak if you're looking to stay on a calm lake for a day trip or short night trip.
