Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun paddling! I have a quality, inflatable kayak I enjoy. However, I also wanted something I could just throw in the car & go! This kayak fits the bill. No problem getting it into my Subaru Forester & easy to lift/carry. As I expected, it doesn't track nearly as well as my inflatable; however, the tracking improves greatly when I'm going fast. It is a little "tippy" but no so much that I felt any trepidation in the water--just a little trickier getting in & out. It glided like a dream with little effort & turns beautifully. I can't say that I would take this kayak out in choppy waters or down the river...but for paddling in a calm lake, it is lots of fun! And so easy to transport that I will be able to paddle more often!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impulse Buy I purchased this kayak in 2014 without any experience in kayaking. It was an impulse buy and as a graduate assistant on a tight budget, I certainly couldn't argue with the price. Three years later, I'm a kayaking enthusiast and I still regularly use it (about 20 times a year). I'm a 175 lb man, and I haven't had any trouble with it. It doesn't track all that well, but that's to be expected for its size and design. I tell people that it's really built for convenience. I'm able to fit it in my Honda CRV with the seat folded down, which saves me time and the trouble of strapping it to the roof. I predominantly use it for no wake lake kayaking and it works great. If you're planning on hitting larger, wake lakes you might want to consider the 100 model instead. I did take on a lot of water the other day when I used it in very choppy waters and actually thought I'd lose her there for a minute All-in-all, this is an excellent buy and I now own two other Pelicans. They'll have me as a loyal customer for life. If you're considering pursuing kayaking, this is about the best place to start.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from portable and fun My wife and I have kayaked for years, ocean and lake, and really enjoy it. I wanted to get a short 8 foot model to fit inside my Explorer and transport easily. After comparing a few models, I choose this one and I'm very glad. The first time I took it out on the lake, taking turns with my wife, we both had a ball. We drove back to Dicks and bought a second one: they both fit inside the Explorer with the hatch closed. Now for some extra info... I'm 6 foot tall, weigh 200 pounds and over 50. Yes, I'm maxing out the capacity; I've had this out a half dozen times, up to a couple hours at a time, relaxing and fishing, and I feel comfortable, although I'm careful not to rock it too much. My 30 year old son joined me one day: 6 foot 190 pounds, and he had a ball.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Adults should go up a size. This kayak is tough, light and easy to carry or put on your car. However, my 155 lb. rides uncomfortably close to the water's surface. If you'll only ever use it on a glassy lake you'll be fine, but if you expect some chop you may find yourself taking on water. I'd feel more comfortable if I had sized up to the 100.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice kayak for beginners Great little kayak for the novice, but it took some practice keeping it stable in the water. Had a blast with it. Buy at the store!!! Shipping cost more than the kayak!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for our 9 year old! I looked at the youth sit on top but reviews kept mentioning 5 and 6 year olds using. I wanted something that would last my 9 year old a while. He's tall and skinny with the waist of an 8 year old, but this kayak was perfect fit for him. He used a 190 paddle which he did wonderfully with. He thinks he can go one size up from that as he hit the sides some, but I do that. lol This kayak could also be used with someone who is short or petite. It's not advertised as a kids kayak. I could use this if I wanted. There are no foot rests inside it but he didn't need. His back hurt a little on the trek back but that's pretty standard in most kayak seats I've found. A beach towel tucked behind his lower back fixed that. Best choice for our son.
