Rated 4 out of 5 by from Superb value After having owned a Perception Tribe 11.5 for a couple seasons and really enjoying it, we decided to add a fishing kayak (but also want to use it as a "regular" kayak) to the family fleet. Let me start by saying that if you are value conscious, I do not think you will be able to find a better deal for a mid-high quality fishing kayak than $499 (although I see it is now $20 less expensive than when I purchased it, bummer). You'll need to add a decent seat at somewhere in the $50-$100 range, and I would suggest replacing the front hatch with an aftermarket model for about $18 (easier to use and comes with a cat bag). Other than that, I would suggest taking it out once or twice just to paddle around, and another couple times to fish in it before making any other modifications or custom touches. Compared to our Tribe, the Striker is wider, heavier, more stable, slower, has a higher weight carrying capacity, and the tracking is not as true. All reasonable trade offs when comparing a fishing kayak to a more traditional one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Kayak for fishing. Perception Striker 115 Angler is a great Kayak for fishing. I've been out 2 times and have enjoyed it very much. I always look for the positives and negatives when I read reviews so here they are. Positives - wide and sturdy plenty of storage Large seating areas Anchor 5 rod holders Negatives - Heavy (65lbs) Awkward to carry 10 scupper holes (plugs not included made my own) Doesn't come with seat cushion or paddles.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Extremely stable! I finally got a chance to put this in the water due to weather. I am 6 feet tall and weigh about 275 and this was a great fit. The good: Lots of leg room and foot pegs to adjust your legs to your comfort. Floats well in shallow water. Extremely stable. Rocked it back and forth a few times and didnt feel like I was going to capsize. The bad: Maybe it is inexperience, but difficult to keep straight paddling both with and against the current on a slow moving creek (tracking). Weight of the boat. At 65 lbs it can be tricky to load onto J racks on top of an SUV. Overall: A decent boat for the money. The shallow draft will let you get to where the fish are. The stability due to the wide beam will let you reach into the water for your fish. Recommend a trailer or assisted lift and a kayak cart to transport to the water. A good value at $500. Would recommend to anyone looking for a fishing boat or A good boat for a bigger guy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Party Barge First thing first, I am a big guy at 6'3" and 265lbs. This thing doesn't even know im on it. It is very stable. Im able to stand on it, but don't think fishing would be possible. Im very pleased with the kayak, but I knew from the beginning that I would have to add alot of stuff to it. Other than the Scotty pole holder and the anchor trolly, it comes with nothing. And I was fine with that, because I would rather accessorize it myself than have to remove a bunch of sub-par junk that I wouldn't like anyway. The only 2 things that I really wasn't happy with were the dry storage hatches and the 4 rod holders made into the kayak behind the seat. The front hatch is complete junk. If it gets just the smallest amount of dirt in the threaded lid, you might as well get a hammer to get it loose. This would have been a bigger problem for me if they didnt make aftermarket hatches that fit perfectly in the old ones place. I purchased mine through Amazon for $18.99. The hatch in front off the seat would be ok if it had some type of dry bag included with it. The rod holders behind the seat, in my opinion, serve no purpose. They are 1 1/4" round and very shallow. I would be scared to store any of my rods in them. The back storage area is huge. I am able to fit a large cooler in the back with ease.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent and well made This is my first kayak so I'm not an expert by all means. But as I searched around I found this one to be heavy duty unlike some of the others I saw. I like the weight capacity of being 500 pounds I'm a big guy so that helped a lot. There are not many kayaks affordable that has a 500 lb capacity. It has plenty of room and the tracks well. I have found the need to add a few features like a nice seat and a paddle holder. I also added two Scotty rod holders in the rear. For only $499 I found this to be an exceptional buy. The only thing I did not like was the four rod holders in the back doesn't hold my rods very well so I will probably build a PVC rod holder. Once I got used to it and felt very stable. Being new to kayaking I'm still a little bit shaky on the top seat but I'm getting used to it. My son stood on it and he said it was really stable, now he wants one.
