[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Upgraded the pair of ascenders my climbing mentor gave me to get ready for a trip to the Valley. Petzl didn't dissappoint! More comfortable, increased biner capacity, and better movement along the rope. Perfect for all my hauling and ascension needs. Essential part of my big wall kit.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Recently climbed the 3rd Flatiron and during one of three rappels, the rope got stuck. Thankfully had this ascender with and it made those pulls way easier. Great for ascending fixed lines as well, plus the black will be great to have when live events return for stealth mode.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got it for rope access work. Often on rope 8 hours a day. I had a right handed ascender but got this left handed one because is designed to overlap with the chest croll better, giving you a slightly longer stroke.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Comfy handle, and smooth glide makes getting up easy. Clip this to your harness for a good time. Have no worries, the metal teeth will not fray your rope.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was previously using the BD ascenders but never got used to the ergonomics and trigger action. As with all Petzl products, the ergonomics are great, it's lightweight and it works just as designed. If you are stuck on which ascender to buy spend the extra few bucks to get the Petzl Ascension, the quality is obvious and you won't regret it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the Petzl Ascension. Ergonomic and easy to reach the button with your left thumb. Slides up the rope easily and grips very well to prevent unwanted descent.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my first ascender I have ever purchased. It had good reviews and came from a good manufacturer. I have used it 5 times so far and it works great. It really locks onto the rope and doesn't slip or creep down at all.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was blown away with how light these are. Yet no functionality is compromised. I find the ergonomics to be on point: nice grip, and it’s easy to feather or completely disengage the cam with one hand.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this to use in canyoneering and caving. Have used it on ropes from 9-11 mm. No slippages, grips easily, even when muddy. Extremely tough. No complaints.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this (and a black one, L/R) for TRT/Search and Rescue. I got tired of using (fighting?) Purcell's for ascending a line. These are lightweight and I really don't notice them on my already-overloaded rack. The mechanicals are solid and smooth, and they grab 10-11mm rope just fine, slide up with ease, and don't seem to cause undue wear. The size of the lower mounting hole gives me plenty of options for attaching foot loops, 2nd points of attachment to my harness, etc.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought my ascender after wanting one for years. Wish I hadn't waited it's amazing piece of equipment. It makes the job easy. If you need a belay device look no further.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is everything you need in an ascender, it's light but feels bomber in your hands. Not tiny either, you could get a bear paw in there. Super smooth moving up the rope and the catch is easy to work with one hand. 'Biner holes big enough for about anything...just another solid Petzl product!

I am a 64 year old man, 6'3", 255 lbs. I use this ascender for roof climbing and tree trimming. I know. Little old to be monkeying in trees, but I like to do things myself. The Petzl Ascender has yet to "let me down". Actually it "let's me down" perfectly.

So, these ARE my first set of ascenders, so I don't have much to compare them to... That said, they work better than I thought they could, allowing me to quickly and securely climb vertical ropes and hang from them without fear of falling. Smooth up glide, secure lock, and easy thumb access to the latch makes these a prime climbers tool!
