Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk! I picked up two thinking they would be good panfish and trout rods for the fiancée and I.. One reel the handle broke enroute to the lake, the other reel the bail fails to stay closed on hook sets(I ended up replacing). The one thing that really got to me I was miles upstream trout fishing and as I'm retying I thought my reel fell in the water. Thought no big deal the reel seat came loose which has happened even in my high dollar set ups.. No the handle fell off the blank... Never had that happen in my 20 years of fishing. Complete garbage, save your money and the headache.. I don't even feel comfortable giving them to the neighbors kids to keep and fish with. Needless to say they are in the trash.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wonderful rod, the reel not so much. I don't write reviews often. I bought this for the wife during Christmas time and yesterday was it's maiden voyage. I needed a light rod for a kayak trip and borrowed it from her. Got about half way through the trip and noticed that the handle was getting a little loose. The handle had cracked at the hinge where it attached to the reel and the only thing keeping it attached was the hinge pin. I'm real lucky it stayed attached for the rest of the trip. Now I've gone back and read other reviews and it turns out that I'm definitely not the only one to have that problem. Bottom line is that the rod is excellent but the reel has some problems.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Decent Pole...Reel not so good. Bought this pole for opening day trout fishing. I wanted something light weight that could cast down to a 1/64 ounce. I spooled it 3/4 of 4lbs test mono and topped it of with 10x2lbs Powerpro. Worked nicely for the first hour, but then it started randomly winding the string around the drag knob. Sometimes I could pick it out but other times I had to cut it, so by the end of the day I was casting into my backing line. Wasn't sure if it was the reel or the string, but after reading some reviews it appears that other's are having same issues. I am on the fence with buying a different reel or just getting a different setup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic value for a fun ultralight combo! Love this little combo! Extremely sensitive rod and super smooth reel. I put two pound test on mine and use tiny little plugs and jigs for whatever decides to pounce on them! When they do, the fun begins! The main reason I decided to make this purchase (considering I already have other comparable outfits) was the fact that the rod has that little extended butt feature. Most ultra light rods stop just a few inches past the reel seat (which is fine) the extended butt feature makes this five and a half foot super sensitive rod act and perform like a seven footer... I love it and would definitely recommend its purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from If you get a good one it is great. I fish a lot of ultralight rods and this one as the title says is a good rod "IF" you get a good one. Just a bit more flex than the Field and Stream Tech Lite line of rods so they are great for panfish and trout. By a good one, these rod have a very fine tip section and are very finicky. If the blank and wraps are not perfect, or if you move the tip just the wrong way - snap. I do not recommend them for beginner fisherman or kids given the light tip. But if you take care of the rod it is a delight to land pound size panfish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing rod I bought this rod midway through trout season and was not disappointed casts beautifully could easily get across big creeks with very little weight! Just broke it while climbing a steep hill and snapped the tip and am ordering a new one currently..definelty my go to rod for both trout and bass! I have caught up to 2-3 pounders on it no problem, those who snapped theirs with fish obviously just don't know how to handle a fish bigger than a blue gill! HIGHLY RECCOMEND!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great ultralite setup really like the setup for $40. I have it spooled with 6lb mono but may switch to 4lb. great light combo. I keep it ready to go in my mini cooper. went stream and pond fishing. caught some micro LMB and sunnies.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so Good Been looking for a rod and reel combo to cast ultra light lures. When I saw it was rated to cast 1/64oz lures and for $39 bucks figured I couldn't go wrong. For the most part that is true. I first spooled with 4lb Berkley XL cast like a rocket but ended up with so many twist after an hour or so of casting it looked like the line just blew up! Spooled twice more with the same, same result. Line also has a habit of collecting outside the spool on the drag knob if your not careful to make sure the line is in the roller after each cast. Why did I give it 4 stars? Once I put on 8lb Berkley Fireline Crystal and a Florocarbon leader line twist is no longer an issue at all. Still need to watch to make sure line is in the roller and close the bail by hand. Biggest fish so far on the combo 1.5lb smallie and the rod is still intact, make sure your drag is not to tight.
