These are really handy as slip floats to avoid adding a bunch of weight to your line, and to take advantage of the castability as it slides down towards your hook and you don't have a long leader to lob out. When using as a slip float with bobber stoppers such as the Eagle Claw ones you need a bead in between, otherwise I've had the bobber stopper jam inside the float's tube rendering them useless. The big critique I have is after getting wet it can be impossible to rethread line through the float. I think the line adheres to the wet surgical tubing. So you can't really change up your rigging while fishing if you want to remove the float (e.g. to cast a lure).
