Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exact size and feel of outdoor ball, only a little softer core for indoor play I used to practice fielding in the gym with the mini squashy balls often used for indoor hitting practice from the tee Those served their purpose, especially since they come in bulk but this NCAA 12 inch practice ball is true to size ( and weight?)so you get in the right habit of opening your glove enough and seeing/feeling the true velocity of your throw. I have a few that I just bounce of the gym ball to practice fielding form and throw against the wall.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Safer when kids are running around you playing catch Harder to catch than a traditional ball when warming up and not throwing hard. They tend to jump out of the glove if you miss the pocket on light throws. If you get it in the pocket and/or put on some heat, it usually stays put. We use these types a lot at home. I live in a condo and to get daily throwing/catching practice in when kids are running around playing, we must use these balls. The anxiety is just too much with hard balls lol.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great softball for students learning to play softball... I have been teaching in Romania since 1999, and I taught most of my classes to play softball. Since I taught both boys and girls, it was much better to have a ball that wasn't so hard. When we had to play on asphalt, the balls didn't last very long, but now that we are able to play on grass, these balls are ideal for our use. I will take many of them back with me for my former students who love to keep playing softball.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth RIF softball I actually purchased the balls because of the raised threading. They seem fine to pitch with but they are a bit to soft coming off the bat. No pop. I do prefer them on colder days though because they don't seem to sting the hands of the batters. I got hit with a hard line drive and was very thankful that I was using them. They are to bouncy to do infield with at a high level.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Bucket of Training Softballs? I keep a bucket of training softballs for the 12U team. It's much safer at tournaments to hit the training balls into the BowNet than the regular balls. I keep a few on the back porch for my daughter to use in order to get some pitching drills done with her less than athletic brother. Just a thought. Also, it's much safer to use these in rundown practice drills.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good safety ball Great for leagues where injury is at risk or something not good as training balls because they are not designed for it training should be done with competent people fielding so as to accurate reads off of bats which these safety balls (they really are soft) do not replicate but great for young leagues or leagues where injury is a high risk.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Its round I purchased this ball to teach my 12 year old daughter how to catch and hit. She has yet to master the hitting part, although she hits it 25% of the time. The best thing about this ball was its cost, secondly it is round as all good softballs should be. Thirdly; it never goes anywhere without us. All in all, it is a good and obedient ball.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This softball is just what we need. 9/16/16: Used the softball this evening for practice for a benefit game tomorrow. The RIF construction really works as I took a line drive back at me on the mound while pitching. I couldn't glove quite cleaning although I didn't drop it. It glanced off my glove and hit me in the stomach. That could have smarted with a regular softball.
