Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works just fine!! After reading some of the reviews, I was a little skeptical. But due to the shortness of time, the proximity of the store, and the price (which was actually cheaper in the store), I decided to buy it. In 10 minutes I had all the fingers relaced. The hardest part was figuring out the lacing pattern! Yes, the lace is a little tight fitting through the tool, but only the first time. It's no big deal!! I'm not sure how the one rater broke the handle...just poke the tool through the 2 holes, feed in the lace a couple inches, and then start pulling it back through using a twisting motion. It's a piece of cake!! Works great at a great price!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A life saver! Any ball player should have this in their gear bag! If you've played baseball or softball for any length of time inevitably your glove's lacing will break. Sometimes it's not a big deal if you are a right handed utility player. If you are a lefty (like my son) or play catch or first base. $3.99 can be the difference between finishing the game and riding the pine the rest of the way. My son's glove broke for the 3rd time this season. The first two repairs were jerry-rigged then I saw this at Dick's. The other option was buying and breaking in a new glove mid-season or taking somewhere that would charge about $50 to restring a $30 glove. If I was coaching again I definitely would keep one in my kit gear bag.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as Easy to Use I used this kit and the other kit offered at Rawlings. For me, the other kit is easier to use. It has the lace already attached to a wire which is flexible enough to thread thru wholes in the glove and the lace stays attached thru the entire process of relacing. (No need to re-attach the lace after each whole.) This kit is stiff, making it difficult to thread thru the wholes in the glove and you have to remove and re-insert the lace after each whole.FYI - The lace is only 48" long. I needed 4 kits to completely re-lace an infielders baseball glove which is smaller than most other gloves.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth it Bought this kit to change the lacing around the wrist of my son's new glove so that it would fit better around his wrist. The laces really did not fit into the eye of the tool. The tool was also too thick to fit through the gloves' lacing holes without stretching the holes open a lot more. I ended up unfolding a paper clip and using it to thread the lacing through.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Laces but the High Quality Tool is Too Big The rawhide laces were the perfect replacement for the originals in my old softball glove and made the glove "as good as new". The tool provided is well made, but doesn't work. Look at the tool: you can see the idea is to push it through a hole, slip the rawhide lace through the opening, then pull the tool and lace back through the hole. Easy. Except that the diameter of the tool is the same size as the hole. Can you see the problem? With the lace in the tool the diameter is now three times the size of the hole. You can't pull it back through the hole. Just not happening. What I did was use a Kelly clamp: You slip that through the hole, clamp onto the lacing and pull that through. See the photos to see what I mean. Very thin needle nose pliers would also work. The tool would actually work well with more pliable lacing that could be compressed or twisted but not with raw cowhide material...Tool alone is 1/4" wide, Tool with lacing is nearly a half inch wide, while the lacing is 3/16ths...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This lacing kit got the job done! I bough this lacing kit to repair a softball glove that needed a little TLC. The only complaint is with the handle on the tool - I wish it had just a needle that you can thread through each hole of the glove. Instead, you have to thread the beginning of the lace through each hole of the glove and then take the tool out of the hole to then continue threading. A single threading needle would allow you to thread the needle and lace through each hole of the glove with less hassle.TLDR: It did what I needed it to do. I just wish there was less hassle.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worthless. Broke on first use Bought this to repair a strand that had broken in my son's first baseman's mitt. First, the lacing tool is worthless because the hole is too small for the laces. After flattening it somewhat to squeeze it through, the pieces would break and was too bulky to pull through the holes in the glove. I managed to lace the glove without using the tool whatsoever. And everything looked fine. First time he used the glove, the new laces busted almost immediately. Broke in two places. Cheap product, not worth anything.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved me $ and Time My 9-year old son's perfectly sized and broken-in Rawlings glove busted a lace across the fingertips a day before practice and two days before a game. I have never tried relacing before, but for $6.99 I thought I would give it a shot. My son was not wanting to play with a stuff brand new glove. It took me approximately 20 mins to relace the finger portion of his glove. If you plan on relacing a whole glove, you will probably need 2-3 additional laces.
