Just picked up a pair of Blacksmith in light brown. The boots require some breaking in but, as with all new quality shoes this is a given. I only have 2 concerns with the design one being the speed lace hooks. They’re sewn into the leather but the manufacturer did not “smooth out” or file the ends which come in contact with the tongue of the shoe and create deep scratch marks. Since these only show when unlaced and open and not when wearing it’s an acceptable inconvenience but I would suggest Red Wing take this into account and file down the sharp contact points against the tongue. The other issue is the light brown leather shows every tiny scratch, nick and scuff mark. I know this can be buffed over but to have to constantly smooth out the marks can be a bit of a chore. Other than these issues these are well worth the $ spent, they’ll last for years and the patina after months and years of wearing should be beautiful.

Great boot, looks stylish and saves money in the long run. Purchased Copper Blacksmith 4.5 years ago. I sized down one size to make them a snug fit. I wear them daily for work year-round in MN. I used Mink Oil right away which darkens them a bit, which I like. The soles are hard which makes them last long, but I am also careful on icy pavement during the winter in MN. My only complaint is the laces, which are short, flat, and waxy laces, which I replaced with a longer round style that I prefer. I also read some negative reviews that seem to think dark indentations on the tongue from the backside of the speed hooks and eyelets are a problem - my boots have dark marks, but tongue is fine after 4.5 years.

These are the boots my grandfather wore when I was young. Now I’m in my 60’s. I’ve had my current pair for 10 years. Wear them everyday to work on my farm. Once they get broken in they are very comfortable. They’ve been wet, covered in mud and they clean up great. If you regularly do maintenance they will last a long time.

Many women in my life have told me that these shows are reminiscent of pilgrim shoes. My “Benjamin Franklins” or my “colonizer kicks”. Personally I’ve always thought they were more like docs. Had them 5 years resolved once, they’ve gone everywhere. Love em.

My Blacksmiths are about 3 years old. I broke them in by walking 5.8 miles afterwork on the boardwalk in Ocean City in the dead of winter, my walking club would laugh at me, and I’d be a liar if I said it wasn’t tough.. It was the best break I’ve ever pulled off, I wear ‘em with no socks all the time these bad boys are like gloves on my feet.. The only treatment I ever do is some Hubbards Shoe Grease if I remember, I just smear it all over the seams, just in case… I was stomping around in puddles just the other day thinking about what a great product RedWing makes, I have boots from the other ‘big’ brands, my #8 Last Blacksmiths are my goto, if I can’t wear FlipFlops, Love ‘em , they are Super Dope !

Love the boots, the laces broke after a handful of wearing the boots. Will Redwing replace?

I have had my Blacksmiths for about 9 months now a minimal break end phase is well over. I decided to give my boots a boost in flavor by adding Rose Anvil Kilties. I was able to find every color assortment that RW offers in Rose Anvil's extensive selection of Kilties. The Kilties gave my boots a bit more flavor than expected.

I expected a break-in period but these blacksmiths were comfortable out of the box. Soft but supportive and the fit was perfect for me. No chafing, roomy but not loose. The traction was good even in wet weather. And they are fine to wear even during hot and humid days where I live. Chose the copper rough and tough because I think the look is so classic and understated. Love the versatility as well. Can use them with just about every pair of pants and (even shorts) in my closet. I wear them almost everyday and feel they’ll stand up to all the walking I do. Well worth the price and looking forward to picking up more Red Wing boots down the line.

Just bought these and very comfortable out of the box. Went up a little from my usual size in Red Wing (10.5) to 11. If these were suede, definitely would have stayed with 10.5. Nice fit and finish. The toe looks more bulbous in photos than in person.

Great boots. There's definitely a break-in period, but they're perfect once they're broken in. I purchased a half size smaller than other shoes.

First pair of Red Wing Heritage boots and now on the bandwagon. Incredible quality boot, heavy duty leather and great style. Followed other reviews and ordered a 1/2 size smaller than my Brannock size of 11.5 D. Exchanged for a 11.5EE which was a perfect fit. Did not want to go through the pain of breaking in. The extra width was not dramatic but enough to make the boots comfortable for the start.
Looks fantastic and feels great. Sizing is spotty. RW dealers "professionally" sized me 2x and gave terrible advice. This is my 3rd and final time to get sizing right. I'm glad they offer this in wide sizes now. Don't trust the professionals with sizing

I purchased these boots Rough and Tough 3343 at the Red Wing Main Store in Red Wing, Minnesota about a month ago. Since I have worn them everyday to get them climatized to my feet. I have two pairs of Iron Rangers black 8084 and amber 8111 that I have worn continuously for the past two years. I must say that I really like the Blacksmith for everyday wear. The design is simple and plain, but is very attractive because last used is the same as the Iron Ranger giving it the bumped toe affect. I would recommend these boots to anyone venturing into the heritage boot collection.

Another awesome pair of Redwings - I have a number of Iron Rangers and Moc Toes and the Blacksmiths fit nearly identical, if not a little snugger through the widest part of the foot (but in a comfortable way). The Copper R&T leather has broken in lovely with some great natural scuffing that is already starting to patina. They got soaked during a day of walking in Paris, and zero sign they've ever been wet.

Bought these about 10 months ago and have worn them very lightly to the office and around town. First of all I absolutely love the look and fit. They look and feel great. I have worn them very lightly maybe 20 times. The interior cotton lining and structure of the toe has split apart vertically, creating a visible dent in the exterior. I have never kicked anything or treated them even remotely roughly. Red Wing didn't think this was a defect. Since they believe this isn't a defect I wouldn't recommend these boots to anyone who expects any durability. These boots can't handle sitting at a desk and walking 10 minutes to a coffee shop once in a while. I feel these were a complete waste of money and will avoid Red Wing in the future and save up for boots made by a company that stands behind their product. I am very disappointed in the boots.
