A Long Lasting Classic

I was surprised to get a compliment on my old Iron Rangers today. I've had this pair for around 17 years and they're still going strong. Second set of heels, plenty of life left in the sole and they're about as broken in as a boot can be!

My Sizing Journey

So sizing can be tricky with Iron Rangers. I measured as a 10.5 on Brannock in the store. Clerk recommended a 10 or 9.5 in IRs. The on-line Red Wing digital tool/assistance recommended a 9. I normally take a 10 in most shoes. Maybe a 10.5 in select brands like Merrell. I get that RW IR's run big, but stepping down to a 9 seemed like a lot. So I try some on and the 10 actually seems the most comfortable. I buy the 10s and about a month later decide they are too big. Back to the store. Try on 9s and 9.5s. Clerk is trying to convince me that the 9's are good. "It should not be comfortable in the store, you need to break them in." I ended up going with the 9.5s. The fit is as noted on the RW web page "like a firm handshake", but not painfully tight like the 9's. A few weeks in still happy with the 9.5s. My advice and lesson -- trust your feet and how they feel. If the shoe hurts in the store, I'm not convinced it will stretch that much to get comfortable. 10s are up on E-bay.

Favorite Ones

10 years now with the same pair of boots. Had them resole twice. Best shoes I've ever had. They've been through a lot. Now time for another pair.

Great Boot!

I love my Iron Rangers. I now have 5 to my collection. My newest one is the alpine portage.

Fantastic Boots

I bought my pair of iron rangers around a year ago after being suggested to do so by a friend of mine who’s a professional cobbler. To sum it short, I couldn’t be more grateful for the suggestion, me pulling the trigger and buying a pair was the best choice I could’ve made, I wear mine near daily and I’ve found the (after break-in) comfort, look, and overall quality incredibly wonderful. I’ve come to love taking care of them, the leather treatment process has become something I can look forward to every so often. My appreciation of these boots has lead to me convincing both my partner as well as one of my friends to get a pair of redwings, and I just got another pair as a Christmas gift to myself, so I suppose the saying a “good product will sell itself” is applicable to these boots. In my books, well worth getting if you’re willing to make the commitment.

Shouldn't Have Waited So Long!

I waited until I was pretty much done with the working part of my life before I splurged on my first pair. Now I'm busier and working harder than ever before and these Boots are definitely living up to the hype. They fit right and feel great without any significant break-in issues.

Boots For Life

I seriously expect to wear these boots for the next thirty years.

They Were Great At First

I bought this item a little more than a year ago and for the amount of money I spent on it I expected it to last more than a year. When I initially got them, I loved them. They were comfortable. I thought they looked very nice, but they definitely did not hold up to the industry I work in. I am a professional exterminator and these boots shortly after receiving and using them daily for work, started allowing water to get through the leather, causing me to constantly have soaking wet, cold feet. They started falling apart, right where the toe of the boot meets the rest of the boot and actually cracked and large holes developed. These boots are not the test of time or apparently the pest control industry..

For Life And Lifestyle. Redwing Boots

I own four pairs of Iron Rangers. I rotate them out. In different finishes. My favorite is roughneck and amber harness, but I also have charcoal and suede. I love the moc toe and the steel shank. Substantial boots. Not work boots. I also own a pair of Redwing Hawthorns and British Chelseas. I have a problem.

Stellar!

I highly recommend the Iron Ranger. I've owned Red Wing boots in the past that have been very hard to break in but these took no time at all. They're well worth the money and they are definitely a looker! Be sure and get the RW leather conditioner and if you have a narrow foot like mine, invest in the RW insole. It's well worth it. With proper care, these Rangers will last forever.

5 Pairs So Far...

Over all I'm really happy with all my red wing boots. But the I.R. are my favorite. Yep they can have factory defects but I have been lucky and only had one pair I was able to find a problem with. The leather cap on the inside covering the heal was placed to far forward. Not even a big deal ot is a easy fix.and the store is bought it from said they would be happy to do so if it becomes a problem. 100# happy with the company. I went from Whites to red wing boots because they are not as heavy and I don't need the over built boots anymore... thank you for such a great experience....

Great Boots

These are my first pair of Red Wing Iron Rangers and they are better than expected. All this time I thought Red Wings were just work boots, wow was I wrong. These are quality boots very nice.

Iron Ranger - Black

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought my second pair of these boots in Black Harness because how much I loved the same boots, in CRT, bought from Dick's Sporting Goods last November. Takes a few years to break in but not as tough as I read on other reviews. Most other reviews indicate to order 1/2 to full size less than your "normal" size. From my experience, no more than 1/2 size less. Love the tough durable leather of Red Wing Heritage boots.

Boot With Style

Really Nice Boot I have all colors, used them every day! but i NOTICE on the end of the sole it becomes really hart and painful on your feet. I was wandering what's going on with my feet but i discover that the boot were causing a extremally pain on my feet. Hope Red Wing let me try this product one more time and let me change my mind.

Excellent!

I've been wearing these boots about 4 to 6 times a week for 2 to 14 hours at a time for the past year and a half, and I couldn't be happier with them! Breaking them in was a breeze, and comfort is exceptional. I've been wearing boots for a living for the past 25 years and can tell when a pair is made with quality in mind. I wouldn't recommend them for the battlefield or the job site, but if you want a good looking comfortable boot for just about anything else, buy yourself a pair of these!
