I have 23 years on the job, i have owned 4 pairs of these, they last over a year with the factory sole. The leather is tough i never had any cracking or ripping. The stitching is solid. I replace the soles at a cobbles with the same sole. Usually lasts another year and a half before the leather starts fading. I strip boots down w shaving cream and use a parade polish to spit shine them. They are extremely comfortable & have excellent support in the most challenging situations such as cell extractions. The side zipper makes the boot a pleasure to take on & off. Each time i purchased these boots i got at least 3 years out of them. Then use the old ones for outdoors after. Excellent boot with a excellent professional look.

Be patient
After the first couple days I was getting bummed that I had spent a lot if money on boots I couldn't wear. They felt big and clunky, stiff, and killed my inner ankle bones. I stopped wearing them for a week and let my ankles heal\toughen up. I wasn't gonna give in easy so I put them back on but looser. Over the next week I tightened them lil by lil and put in a quality insole. Now, I wouldn't take any other boot in this style. They are not ready to wear outa the box for the weak willed. You just gotta be tougher than they are....I would, however, feel a lil better if the zippers weren't plastic.

Mean as can be
I mean as can be to my boots have had these boots for about 4 months now. Took a solid month of pain in my right heel and oil and the elements to break them in. They have withstood rotten grain and snow and ice. I have not slipped on anything or had any foot injuries since I started wearing these boots. They are not steel toes but I have dropped heavy things on my feet and been alright. I climb up and down ladders all day and I'm in a hurry so jump off them. The support is great. They are holding up in very wet muddy conditions that would just ruin other boots. I've seen alot of negative reviews of these boots. They are doing right by me. 8 1/2 is an 8 1/2 military tends to run lil bigger.

Older Paratrooper velcro were way better
I had the older....when I say older I mean around 2009 with the Velcro connections at the top of the zipper. Those Rocky's were awesome and I have no complaints on those. I purchased a new pair in 2013 and I still wear them to this day. I work in Corrections and I'm walking 13 hours a day. Well, the newer ones wreck havoc just above my heel. These boots have made blue calluses the size of golf balls behind my ankle. I can't wear flip flops in public because of the damage these boots have done to my skin.

Horrible
The boot looks great. That's about it. The zipper sticks frequently. And the boot is the most uncomfortable boot I've ever worn. I've been wearing Rocky's for years on duty. I will NEVER buy this boot again. Been wearing it for 3 months waiting for it to break in and it hasn't. I have to wrap my feet behind the heel to avoid blisters.

Great Pair of Boots!
I purchased these boots about a month ago. Believe me when I say I was alittle skeptical at first being a new pair of boots again, especially when it comes to breaking them in. I will say that I was quite surprised when I tried them on and they felt great. Well!, the true test came when I wore them to work for the first time as I work for the Dept. of Corrections, they were great!.
I would purchase this boot again and they look great especially when I put alittle polish on the toe, reminds me of the old jump boots I had in the Military.

Fantastic Boot
Have worked as a Paramedic for 20 years now. Have purchased these boots from the start. They are tough to break in especially in the heals. Once you do though they are so comfortable. My work boot soles last just about a year and the boots will usually last 2 redos on the sole. Then I get them done again and they become personal use boots. These I wear everyday of my life. Get them redone 1-2 more times then the leather is usually done. So 5 years out a boot is fantastic when you use them every day of your life. Would not wear anything else. Live in New England so subject them to all types or weather and terraine. In fact about to order a new pair for work. Also I am not a small guy. 325 pounds walking around in these all day everyday. Great support

Awesome Boot Rocky Men's Zipper Paraboot Duty Boot
I buy 3-4 pair a year for my 3 sons and my daughter in law Two are corrections officers and one son is a paramedic. These boots Rock! They are the ONLY boot my boys will wear. They take a bit to break in, give em time well worth the week of OMG my feet! High quality leather these boot wear like iron. They highly recommend these boots.
